Oh Lordy, the epic-ness (epic-osity?) of tonight's much anticipated Amon Amarth showcase at Showbox At The Market will be out of hand, I can already tell. Fresh off the release of their 9th studio album, "Sutur Rising," these Swedes are set to play TWO, count them, TWO full sets of originals. No openers, no special guests, no foreplay, just straight to the main course - five Viking metal heads who want nothing more than to send you home deaf.
So, what do you think we can expect for the set lists tonight? Being that they're playing two full headlining sets, I'd love to see some of their new songs, but I'd also appreciate a wide variety of old jams, particularly a few off my personal favorite Amon Amarth record, 2004's "Fate Of Norns." But when it comes to Amon Amarth, I'm not picky.
See that's the beautiful thing about these dudes. When you pick up a new album by them, you know what to expect. It might be a little faster or a little slower, but for the most part, Amon Amarth has stayed the course, presenting us with consistently badass albums since 1996. Happy 4/20 Folks. Raise your swords and let's rage like true Vikings!
Here's the info for tonights show in case this is the first you've heard of it!
