World Cup Soccer 6/11/13

Tonight here in Seattle is a world cup qualifier game for the United States Men's National Team to see if they can make the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. Panama is the team that the USMNT is playing tonight and they are pretty good. It is very exciting for many reason like the fact Seattle has not had a World Cup qualifier since 1976. That's a long time and this city has shown time and time again that Seattle is the top place in America to watch soccer without a doubt. Some of the other exciting facts are that Brad Evans who is a Sounder had the game winning goal on Friday to take all three points in a match in Jamaica and fellow Sounder Eddie Johnson is also on the USMNT roster tonight. The match will be on ESPN and should be watched by thousands all over the USA. I for one have never been to a World Cup qualifier and I can't wait. I do go to a bunch of the Sounders FC matches as a season ticket holder but this one is different and means more. It's simple to me and that is that when the World Cup is going on in Brazil in 2014 the USA better be playing. These games are so important because you have to play well to get to the next round, and unlike pro sports you have to wait four years to get back into a World Cup. Going to be a fun night I hope to see you there

PED's in Baseball 6/5/13

Yesterday news broke that a few baseball players are going to get long suspensions for Performance enhancing Drugs or PED's as I will call them for the rest of this blog. It's one thing to get caught cheating like these guys did but to me there is a whole bigger issue with this one and that is Ryan Braun. If you don't know who he is let me catch you up a little, he won the MVP in 2011 for baseball and tested dirty. Now he bet the rap and got to keep his title as MVP but when he beat the drug rap he also made a point of destroying everyone involved in the process. He even went after the guy who collected the pee, why would a guy who's job it is to collect pee have a grudge against a MVP like Braun. This reminds a ton of Lance Armstrong and the way that he denied everything and attacked people because he thought he was above the law. Look I get making bad choices and mistakes but be a grown up and own up to them. I say be a grown and not be a man because it has nothing to do with being a man it's about being a person. If you want to lie about what you did to get so far that's fine, but why try and take down this guy and ruin his life because your a liar. This to me a big issue we have in sports is the arrogance of these people. I really do think some of these people are just plain bad people and not to be trusted much less role models.

Don't understand 6/4/13

I for my job post often of Facebook and I will often post pictures of girls I deem hot because as a guy I like to look at hot girls. Now the thing that blows me away every time is that I post a picture other girls have to talk crap about the girls right away. I don't post pictures of myself shirtless because I don't have the body for it but I don't get mad if another guy has a six pack. Good for him he worked harder than I did to get it. Also guys are not as dumb as some people would have you believe. I realize that a lot of these girls I post have fake boobs and yes I realize that they are not interested in me but I still want to look and post pictures of hot chicks because hot chicks are great to look at. I know a lot of women that went to see Magic Mike but the difference is after they saw the movie I did not point out that most men don't look like that because they know they went to a movie and it's fantasy. That's what bugs me the most is why everyone things that guys are so dumb and why cut down on other women. Yesterday I posted about talking to hot chicks all day on Saturday and someone said "Since they are hot, that makes them whores you think" NO NO NO, not at all really. I like to talk to girls and most of the time I know it's going no where but I still want to chat them up. When you leave nasty comments about girls as a girl on Facebook everyone can you too and they can see your insecurities through your words. I guess in the end maybe I don't understand women but I tell you one thing I understand being mean for no reason which is the way it comes off.

Post season 5/31/13

It always amazing to me that no matter the sport if it is playoff's of the finial you might just end up watching it. Now I am a sports nerd which is understood but I think even the average person who casually watches sports get's into playoff games. Take me for instance, I am not a huge hockey fan but I do very much enjoy the NHL playoffs and anything that goes to a game seven is fun in my book. If your a basketball fan the NBA playoff's are going on right now. The NBA playoff's are a different breed as I am just happy to watch some team lose as opposed to watching for someone to win. Last night I watched some of the NBA playoff and I used to really like Birdman last night he acted like a punk. He took a cheap shot at a guy away from the ball when no one was watching and then got upset when the other player got in his face. If a guy start's something with you finish what they started but to start with the cheap shot again makes you the punk. Never start fights finish them, which is good advice on the field of play and in life. The other thing I really like about the NBA playoff's on TNT is inside the NBA. Charles Barkley is very honest and funny to me, has he offended me in the past yes but I like him as a commentator. Shaq is also on the crew and he is funny at time's but can get real annoying, I also like the main guy on the set Ernie since with all these ex players on the set and he has to keep them on point. So I hope you enjoy some playoff action this year and sometimes if your watching just pick a team and roll with them. Have a good weekend everyone

Old Movies 5/30/13

I recently went to San Francisco to visit a buddy and him family that live down there. I was a big fan of the town and thought it was a fun area so last night I saw there was a movie on called San Francisco and I watched it. Well to my surprise the movie was from 1936 and it starred Clark Gable who was a huge star back in the day, way back in the day when there were few movie stars. The movie had more singing than I would like but it was crazy watching a movie that old. It was also crazy that even though it was a long time ago the message is still the same as a lot of movies you see now a days. I love doing that old timer voice but I could not believe that the whole movie was like that. I am now thinking about adding some of that vocabulary to everyday speech but it might sound odd. I should mention that the movie was also set in San Francisco in 1906 right when the huge earthquake happened. The movie was one of the first if not the first to have special effects, like when the whole town is crumbling from the earthquake. Now that I have watched this movie maybe I should become old black and white movie guy, but then again I don't think to many chicks want to hang out with old school black and white movie guy.

North America 5/29/13

I started watching this show on the Discovery channel called North America. Clearly it's about North America which is the continent we live on. Now I am sure you think you know about the part of the world you grew up in but you don't. So often I think as American's we forget how big our country is. There are vast amounts of land that just don't have people on them. You forget about the rocky mountain's and the plains that are just almost empty. I did not realize that tornado's were such and American thing. The wind just comes down shooting from up in Canada and then it merges with that tropical air from the gulf of Mexico and bam you get these horrible storms that hurt and destroy with a unreal amount of power and force. I also did not realize that a ton of the jungles in central America which is still part of the continent are just open and people don't go in them. The world overall is a beautiful place but man is own continent awesome. The animals are pretty cool as well, I feel like Africa and Asia are famous for the big cats they have but I kind of like that we have the scary dogs like wolves. Speaking of dogs I was watching about the prairie dog as well and those things are cute and awesome. Those hole they dig are for living and protection, also they stand up on the back legs like we do. It's a cool show and you might even learn something.

Deadliest Catch 5/23/13

I was watching the deadliest catch this morning, the latest one from Tuesday. I was kind of surprised that Sig let Edger actually drive the Northwestern and be the captain for the blue crab season. Now this was a big step as Edger has been trying to get to be the captain for a while and the boat is a family boat so I agree that both Hansen boy's should get a shot at being the captain. The issue is that another guy on the boat has been working hard as well to get a chance to run that boat and that guy is Jake Anderson. So on this episode Jake got upset and punched another guy on the boat when the real issue to me is just he needs to talk with Edger and realize that the guys with the family name are going to get first dibs. I think Jake has put in the work to get to be a captain of another boat but then again does he want to leave the Northwestern and TV. Those are my thoughts on the drama on the show but something else has happened over the years and that if you watch this show enough you start to care what happens to the guys. Now up here watching the show is a little different as a lot of the guys live around here but people all over the world love that show and care about those dudes. The other crazy thing is always that when I watch that show and even though they are still alive when being caught, I want to eat Crabs after watching the show. I really like crabs as if and grew up on smaller Maryland Blue crabs but I like them all and want a huge pile of them watching the show. I would and have mixed both my Maryland crab pride with Alaskan crab as I eat the crabs out here with Old Bay and apple cider vinegar

Sports 5/22/13

I like sports and watch them often, I what you could call a sports junkie. I like to talk about sports and when it comes to things like the NCAA I am against a lot of the crap they pull but I love watching college football. Sports also is a very bonding thing with my family and I. My dad and brother still tailgate Maryland games in the fall with our cousins and my uncle. Hell my buddy Bernie still shows up sometimes and I have not even lived there in eight years. When I started watching soccer one of the best things about watching soccer is it a language you can talk with everyone from anywhere in the world. Sports are also great to me because you learn about people and what they are like in a competitive environment. You know them from work but I bet you would have a different impression of the person if you played a sport with them. Sports also teach discipline in kids and how to work for things they want and the feeling of accomplishments when they preform well. Do sports have down sides? Yes of cores they do but I think for me in my life the good has out weight the bad. I also have done a ton of different sports in my life. Growing up I was all about baseball, high school I played football for a couple years and also enjoyed shooting hoops. I trained in boxing for a period and a little BJJ, hell I even played indoor soccer for a couple years. There are tons of sports from golf to kickball as well, so with summer around the corner get out there and get playing

June weather 5/21/13

Ok Seattle we have had some fun and now is the tough part, June. See every year since I have lived here which is eight years now it seems June is the toughest month to deal with. I think that during the fall and winter we expect so bad weather and don't bitch too much. Now June on the other hand is a different story since most of the country will be out enjoying warm weather and we are still sporting hoodies. June is the only month that gets to me a little bit but I could be wrong and June could bust out into this crazy awesome month of sun and warmth but I am not expecting that at all. So why am I writing this to bring you down? No not at all I am writing this to remind you when it's July 4th and still chilly just remember that July 6th will turn this city back into the most beautiful place to live in the world. Once the summer does break it will all come back to you, the outdoor patio's and lakes. Boat rides and road trips, if you know someone with a boat I assume you know someone with a car. Grilling with buddies and playing sports. Maybe you want to throw the football around or maybe have a kick about, hell maybe your a Frisbee guy. My point is don't let June get you down because the summer is going to be here soon.

The Office 5/16/13

Tonight is the last show of the Office. Now I am sure plenty of you are fans of the Office as it was one of the biggest show's on TV ever. It is also funny to think about the show ending because the show started in 2005 and is now ending in 2013. So that is eight years ago the show started, so my question is what were you doing eight years ago yourself? When a show like the Office ends it run to me it's big deal in culture just because I can think of how many different times I have talked about the Office over the years. Now I will not lie I stopped watching the Office a few years ago but was always a fan of the show just kind of stopped watching it during a tough time and never got back to it. I can think back to the time asking my brother if he had even heard of the show after someone introduced me to it. Back then he had two small kids and now my niece is 10 and my nephew is 8. Hell I have moved three times to different parts of the city since this show has been on. When the show started my favorite music at the time was Mike Jones WHO Mike Jones, now I am not even sure what Mr.Jones is up to but I am sure people are still hittin up his cell. So tonight if you are a Office fan enjoy the show and if your not maybe just watch and see all the funny things you missed over the years. As I said I am not the biggest fan but on the same token it is rare that I watch the Office and don't laugh.
