BJ'S BLOG 02/25/14 "Getting Out of A Speeding Ticket"

Hello again, gang! You know I hate to brag, but I believe we may have the best Group Therapy in the “not backed by any licensed therapy training or similar education” category. Plus, it’s absolutely free advice! That’s good enough for me, so I hope that’s good enough for you.
Speaking of bragging, that’s our topic for the day! I know, I know…we’re pretty clever like that.
We heard from a Rock-A-Holic named Bill, whose wife made him very mad by posting a single sentence on Facebook:
“I flirted to get out of a speeding ticket.”
Bill claims that he has no problem with the flirting, because he already knew about it. He claims the real issue here is that his wife was bragging about flirting, and he thinks that’s disrespectful to their marriage.
After you recover from being shocked that someone didn’t like a thing they read on Facebook, maybe you can share your thoughts with us.
Do you think that Bill’s wife’s post showed a lack of respect for her relationship?

Do you believe Bill is really okay with the fact that his wife flirted to save herself from a ticket?

BONUS HONESTY POINTS: Have you ever flirted your way out of trouble?

Let's be realistic here...
To answer all three***********1....Bill needs to be realistic. Adults flirt - even happily married adults. Some do it without even realizing it, because it's simply part of their personality. Whatever the reason, I highly doubt Bill has NEVER flirted with another girl while he's been married, and I think the flirting (not the bragging) is where there might be a lack of respect for the relationship.**********2...There's no way that Bill is going to be okay with her flirting, if he's not okay with her telling anyone else about her flirting. And how is the bragging disrespectful to the marriage, but not the flirting? Then to top it off, it's not even like she flirted because she was attracted to the cop, she did it to get her way out of trouble, as she said.************3..... Maybe only with my own husband. Can't think of any other circumstance I've been in where flirting would have done anything to help.

Come on, Bill.
I see nothing wrong with flirting, provided that the intention is merely flirting; following through with anything more than that without your partner's permission is where the line is drawn. Flirting your way out of a ticket is not an easy thing to do; she's not bragging about FLIRTING, she's bragging about dodging a ticket. Bill is not only being unrealistic, but potentially damaging to his own relationship with this woman. He claims that the flirting is not what bothered him, but bragging about it. Now turn that around, what if she flirted but CONCEALED that fact from her husband? Now you're getting into dangerous territory, because to hide it implies she is ashamed of it... which implies that she wanted to do more than flirt. He should count himself lucky that his relationship is stable enough that she didn't think he'd feel threatened by her methods.

Its a Hoax
Her status comment was a hoax, a fake, a game and if he had responded to the comment he would have found that out. Its this stupid game on fb where you post a weird status update and when people comment, the person then sends a pm to them to continue thegame by posting one of several status updates. Hers was one of them. Have a conversation with your spouse instead of group therapy and get over it.

This is silly...
Get a real problem. 1: No she was just playing into our 'poor' (they don't let me use the word I want) "justice" system like any other woman would. 2: Obviously not if the INTERNET is going to be your marriage counseling. Refer to the TITLE answer #1. 3: Like I said, we have a 'POOR' "justice" system, I am heterosexual and have a pen!s, therefor I don't qualify for 90% of our countries loopholes.

Saved them some money
He should just be happy that she saved them some money by getting out of the ticket. I'm not really sure that I would say that it was disrespectful to the marriage to post it on fb. Like others have said, it sounds like the flirting is what he finds disrespectful, but wants to believe that he trusts his wife.

RE: Saved them some money
I wish I could flirt better so I could get out of tickets! I'm actually really nervous about it! -
