Yesterday on the show I read a story about the Olympics that really annoyed me. The United States are one of the only countries that taxes their own Olympians on the money they make and the medal they win itself! When an Olympian wins a medal, they also get a cash bonus: Gold: $25,000 Silver: $15,000 Bronze: $10,000 The amount of taxes they have to pay for their medals is at $8,986 for Gold, $5,385 for silver, and $3,520 for bronze. Welcome to the United “Taxation” of Americans! With all the joy the Olympians bring to those who really love these events, all the hard work/training they do, and all the sacrifices they make to represent their country, it’s just a really lame thing to do to them. At first I thought it wasn't such a bad thing, but you're right a lot of these people are nobody that is going to be famous and make millions one day. So I thought, maybe not pay the famous athletes. (Basketball, phelps etc) but that's not right either. I think those athletes should donate the 25k to charities though. Not be forced to, cause that isn't right, but Missy Franklin who isn't even a senior in high school has never got to experience what high school is like cause all she does is train, and they're taking almost 9k from her winnings?! That's messed up

Seems Consistent To Me

Remember, this President said that if you lead a successful business, you didn't build it, other people did. The same is true with the Olympians - it wasn't their hard work and years of effort that got them there - it was government largesse.- therefore when they win it is their obligation to pay the piper.
