Yesterday on the show, we talked about a politician who is in trouble for using a band’s song without permission.
The band The Silversun Pickups sent a cease and desist letter to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign after using their song "Panic Switch."
Here is a video of their song:
Here is what Silversun Pickups lead singer Brian Aubert said in the statement:
"We don't like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don't like the Romney campaign. We're nice, approachable people. We won't bite. Unless you're Mitt Romney! We were very close to just letting this go because the irony was too good. While he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign, we doubt that 'Panic Switch' really sends the message he intends."
Using someone’s music without their permission is a classless thing to do!
I am so turned off by the arrogance and audacity of politicians because they think they can do whatever they want!
All those news channels talk about the strategies they are using to get ahead as if it was a game so that is probably why they went with a “younger song”.
Politicians should be making sure that Americans are good, happy, healthy and that our main concerns are being taken care of. That’s the only strategy they should employ and that’s no game.
Being able to strategize your way into political office is not what we want. There needs to be less focus on who’s going to win and more focus on what’s best for us as people and as a country.
Who the F**K do you think you are? I have never even heard of your band until now! you should feel grateful that a presidential is using your song. You don't like the Romney Campaign? You think that the peoples needs should be taken care of by"Big Brother"? well F**K YOU!
good for you :) it's ur song and you should be asked if you mind if it's used. Anyone who turns this into anything other than bad manners should ask themselves why. If it's not yours then you must ask to borrow it duh! And I have never heard of this band either but what does that matter? They should NOT be grateful for the airplay. Fame and money aren't the only things in this world. And I agree with the statement about politics. I'm so sick of it all.
Way to go
Seriously, wasn't it Regan who wanted to use "Little Pink Houses?" He was told to eff off, but at least he asked. The question you should be asking is who the F**K does Mitt Romney think he is? You know he's going to support the movie and music industries against the common man downloading software and media for free...so why does he get to just use someone else's copyrighted material? This is just ONE MORE example of how Mitt Romney thinks he is better than you and me. He thinks he is above us. Put him in office so that he can treat us all like this for four years. Great idea.
response to responce
Yet another typical arrogant selfish hate message from the right wing. No surprise from the likes of the same haters that have continually badgered the opposition. you may hide your bigotry but you obviously can not control your hate. You claim to be grass roots god fearing Americans . Still you wave the bible like a stinger missile at all who disagree . Romney and those like him represent hate , dominance and greed. Sue the entire republican party for copyright infringements as well as loss of future gains , as now that you are connected with The Romney camp . whether by choice or association No one i know will ever buy your music
Response to response
I think they are the ones that wrote the music and have every right to say who gets to use their material. Political leanings aside, when you come on dropping F-bombs left and right it really makes you look and sound like a douchenozzle. Good day junior.
Thats how the R-TeaBag Party rolls ......i'm taking what is yours and using it for MY gain. I say LAWSUIT for copyright infringement & Illegal Dist. Make him use up some of those Silver Spoon campaign funds. Then you can donate 1/2 of the proceeds to a good charity???
Git sum !!!
Rock On Bitchezzzzzzz !!!
