Yesterday’s Group Therapy came from Chris on Facebook who was having problems with his 13-year-old daughter.
Chris’s daughter really wants to go to an all ages rave (with Chris in attendance), but he has been told horror stories about the scene and wasn’t sure what to do.
Many people chimed in, including Steve saying she is much too you young to be going to these kinds of parties and to just say no, but dealing with a 13-year-old daughter is a very difficult thing.
With girls it is so hard to say a “hard and fast,” “black and white,” or “yes/no” answer to them because they will get mad and want to prove you wrong. If you are used to always saying “yes”, then a “no” will sometimes lead to her sneaking out the window. They are not like boys who know that if they do something wrong, they will get some severe punishment from dad.
We did learn however that “all ages” in Washington actually means “16 and up” so Chris, you have that in your favor, but the best way to keep your daughter on the right path is to be a strong male figure in her life.
