Behemoth frontman Nergal finds Bone Marrow doner.
So riding the coat tails of MOvember, and seeing as how it's the season of giving, I wanted to write a quick post about Nergal, frontman for sweet Polish Black/Death metal band Behemoth.
We've talked in episodes past about Nergal's unfortunate leukemia diagnosis, and both his search for a bone marrow doner, and the overwhelming support that the metal community has provided to support his battle. Good news was reported a few short weeks ago that Nergal has found an identical genotype match and will begin bone transplant therapy very shortly!
I took a few minutes to do some research on where you can sign up for the National Marrow Donor Program, so I'll drop a few quick links.
It took about 5 minutes for me to register for the national registry:
Apparently, they're going to send a kit to my house and I get to go all CSI with a cheek swab and everything. Look out, David Caruso!
Locally, you can contact the Puget Sound Blood Center here: http://www.psbc.org/programs/marrow_join.htm
Thanks to one person out there who decided to sign up for the registry, we get to look forward to Nergal's recovery and hopefully more future US Behemoth shows! If you've got 5 minutes, please sign up for the registry. You never know who's life you could save!
I will leave you with the final trailer for the new live Behemoth DVD, which came out on November 9th. You can pick it up from Metal Blade records here.
