June weather 5/21/13

Ok Seattle we have had some fun and now is the tough part, June. See every year since I have lived here which is eight years now it seems June is the toughest month to deal with. I think that during the fall and winter we expect so bad weather and don't bitch too much. Now June on the other hand is a different story since most of the country will be out enjoying warm weather and we are still sporting hoodies. June is the only month that gets to me a little bit but I could be wrong and June could bust out into this crazy awesome month of sun and warmth but I am not expecting that at all. So why am I writing this to bring you down? No not at all I am writing this to remind you when it's July 4th and still chilly just remember that July 6th will turn this city back into the most beautiful place to live in the world. Once the summer does break it will all come back to you, the outdoor patio's and lakes. Boat rides and road trips, if you know someone with a boat I assume you know someone with a car. Grilling with buddies and playing sports. Maybe you want to throw the football around or maybe have a kick about, hell maybe your a Frisbee guy. My point is don't let June get you down because the summer is going to be here soon.

The Office 5/16/13

Tonight is the last show of the Office. Now I am sure plenty of you are fans of the Office as it was one of the biggest show's on TV ever. It is also funny to think about the show ending because the show started in 2005 and is now ending in 2013. So that is eight years ago the show started, so my question is what were you doing eight years ago yourself? When a show like the Office ends it run to me it's big deal in culture just because I can think of how many different times I have talked about the Office over the years. Now I will not lie I stopped watching the Office a few years ago but was always a fan of the show just kind of stopped watching it during a tough time and never got back to it. I can think back to the time asking my brother if he had even heard of the show after someone introduced me to it. Back then he had two small kids and now my niece is 10 and my nephew is 8. Hell I have moved three times to different parts of the city since this show has been on. When the show started my favorite music at the time was Mike Jones WHO Mike Jones, now I am not even sure what Mr.Jones is up to but I am sure people are still hittin up his cell. So tonight if you are a Office fan enjoy the show and if your not maybe just watch and see all the funny things you missed over the years. As I said I am not the biggest fan but on the same token it is rare that I watch the Office and don't laugh.

Taboo 5/15/13

I was watching a show called Taboo on National Geographic Channel about taboo loves. Now one guy loved cars and not like a gear head I mean he physically loved cars. He would rub them and get turned on and another lady loved wall's. Yes wall's she just loved them. The last couple they had on was about age difference and I thought that's not really taboo as I see it all the time. The taboo was that she was 32 years older than him. See I had never really thought about it but it is much more taboo for the age difference to be between a older woman and younger man. It makes sense that some younger girls would want a older guy who can provide for her family but with the older woman the kids are done. I will tell you the truth that when I saw them kiss it was not that odd but they kissed and then she cleaned up his face like a mom would and that creped me out. Now as someone who is single it is not my place to say where or when you can find love but the mommy look to that relationship was a little odd. The other funny thing is the guy's wife is ten years older than his parents. Taboo's are funny because they also are very personal, something you deem taboo I may not. It kind of reminds me of Facebook and how some pictures I think are fine you might be ok with at your job. Taboo's are only as strong as the community that supports them

Pain 5/14/13

So yesterday on the show we announced the line-up for Pain in the Grass 2013. Fist off the line-up is awesome if your a rock fan which I am guessing you are since your reading this blog. Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold, Jane's Addiction, Volbeat just to name a few. Even my boys from Airborne are back to do Pain this year. The other crazy thing about Pain this year is it is at the Gorge over in eastern Washington so that means a giant campout. The show is two days in September on the 6th and 7th. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for this show, it's one thing to just be going to this show but to be out there in the campground with all the rockohalics will be awesome. This is a event that is going to kick ass. Right now I am calling for good weather and cool nights, now by cool nights I do mean weather wise but I also mean party wise. Once you are out there and in the campground you don't really have to worry about anything and just have fun. Another great thing is that if you wake up hungover in your tent it is no big deal because day two is just starting so you can just start parting again. I just can't wait to get out there and party with everyone. I really do hope to see you out there in September

May Day 5/2/13

What is the world about these days is my big question? I ask this because last night was the May Day march on immigration then later in the day some people had a unscheduled protest that ended in some broken glass and 18 people arrested. I ask what is the world about because the May Day march is some very important thing in our country but no one seems to care. I went down last year and marched along side my brothers and sisters in a sign of solidarity for immigration reform. The others are a very small group of people looking to cause trouble and gain attention. Now I could on and on about how the local news was horrible all last night and almost giddy that something had happened between the cop's and the bad protesters. The cop's by the way were looking for that fight as much as the protesters were. Last night I watched as the mayor of Seattle brought up the actual planned march about immigration but the news and the cop's just wanted to show the little violence there was. The really sad thing to me was Facebook last night. Everyone was posting about how they should beat people up and get jobs etc. In turn what happened is every single one of you who felt the need to pop up on your soapbox and give attention to these bad protesters just made it so these people will be back every year. Also for crying out loud can we stop calling it a riot, it was at best a disturbance. Ask someone who has lived through a riot if that's what it looks like. I am just upset because it was a huge day for immigration in the USA and again we got nothing done, nobody even seemed to care. We have real problems right now in this country but we seem happier just to bitch about stuff and make fun of "hippies". Violence is never the answer in these types of things and that's why you saw none at the real march and protest. Protesting on the other hand is about as American as you can be in my mind. That's what the Boston tea party was a protest and no one has to get hurt. Stay strong people and remember with social networking the way it is, you set the tone so think about what your posting. If it's just a drunken post about your ex no worries

Gay's in Sports 5/1/13

So this week Jason Collins who is a NBA player came out as gay. Now one of the big deal's is that he is still a active player but is he really, he is a unsigned free agent. I only ask this because I think it would be great for a active player in one of the major four pro sports in the USA to come out. I worry that he will not a get a deal now and we will never know if the locker room was really ready for a gay player in there with them. I for one am 100% on the side of equality in all things including sports and marriage. I grew up in the Catholic Church and once had some pretty bad thoughts about gay people because I did know any of them. Fear is a powerful tool and it made me say comments that I am not happy about now. To me the biggest threat to marriage is divorce and if someone is not getting married in your church they why do you care. I also do not in any way think being gay is a choice, I can't tell you why that girl makes me nervous she just does, so why should gay men have to explain why they like another man. The other thing to look at is gay's are made fun and ridiculed unfortunately throughout time and the world so why would someone choose that? The gay issue just bugs me to no end because guys like Larry Craig who vote down every pro gay thing they can and turn out to be gay. It seems wild to me in a day in age when everyone is making less money, constantly at war but people still want to yell and scream about gay people getting married. Let them get married and have rights just like you do. There is nothing about me that makes me any more entitled to get married than any gay person. Love is a hard thing to find and if two people find it, whoever they are I am for it.

MMA 4/26/13

Man I am fired up for this weekend. For starters it is a great sunny day out there today and that already has me in a good mood and have dinner plans with a buddy. The other reason I am so excited is tomorrow I am the MC at Cagesport MMA at The Emerald Queen Casino. The event is awesome and I get to walk down the ramp like one of the fighters with not one but two ring girls on my arm. Now after the action get's started I get to sit right up on the apron, which is what they call the seats on the cage. That's the other great thing is I get to go into a cage with a mic and talk to people. Other than fighters who really get's in a cage? Now I hope to see some of you all down there for the fights but if your not don't forget that Saturday is also UFC 159 which features Jon Jones VS Chael Sonnen. I like Sonnen as a entertainer and fighter but I think he is way over matched in this one. I think Jones will go in there and do his job. I am predicting a TKO in the forth round of this fight in favor of Jones. The other fight I am looking forward to on this card in the Roy Nelson fight. I cheer for big country for one reason alone and that's he look likes a average dude with his belly hanging out. Win one for the fat boys Roy.

Babies 4/23/13

So lately a lot of my friends have been having babies and getting married. I guess maybe I should say most of friends are already married and having kids but some of my buds that I thought would be single for a while longer are even getting married or engaged. My one friend even had a kid and for some reason it is messing with my mind a little bit. I guess part of me always kind of looked up to parents and though people that had kind were some how better people and higher moral ground than I. What I have come to realize is that kids are just a natural part of getting older and having a life. Now sitting here at 32 and single with no kids it is hard sometimes to understand that life. Sometimes people tell me stuff and yes I am excited but it is hard to be as excited as they are because I don't have any. I don't understand that excitement or the power of it, I used to feel bad about that but not anymore. I realize that having a kid is much more important than a lot of stuff going on in my life but on the same token I think that people with kids hang out with other people with kids because they get it. I guess my point is that people are going to hang out with and talk with people that have their same interest. I texted with a buddy last night and he said he baby daughter was meeting her grandma for the first time and all I got out was, Awesome. Not sure that was the right response but like I said I am not sure what to say. This whole blog is getting awkward now, maybe I should go

Prince/weekend 4/19/13

So tonight I am going to see Prince preform tonight at the Showbox in the market. Now I know what your thinking and yes I paid way to much for the ticket. With that said I am very excited to see the man and hear him live in such a great room. The funny thing is I am not exactly a huge Prince fan but everyone has told me that seeing is the best live show you will see. Now I would counter and say some Tool shows I have seen blew my mind. I worry though that seeing Prince in such a small venue might ruin all other shows but I don't mind. It is also Friday and people are already in a good mood then you throw Prince in the mix and you got yourself a nice weekend shaping up. The other thing going on this weekend will be the fact it is the unofficial weed holiday with it being 4/20. Someone asked me today if it is a big deal and why smokers care? I think of it kind of like St.Patricks day for what drinkers. You drink whenever but when it is St.Patricks day it just feels different and like you are celebrating something. All in all should be a good weekend and some free UFC fights on TV Saturday as well.

Nerves 4/18/13

What makes you nervous? Seriously what is it that gets you off your normal game, I ask this because I think nerves are common thing that happen to a lot of people but everyone thinks it is just them. It like when you watch a football player in a big game on the field you think man how does he do that I would be nervous. Now take that same football player and put in your job and tell him to go to work and I bet he would be nervous as well. When I watch UFC one of my favorite fighters is Georges St.Pierre and one thing I really like about him is that fact he talks about his nerves before a fight. It is not cool to talk about that kind of stuff I don't think, but some people are now and it happens to everyone. For me I do a lot of public speaking which is a fear of most but I like it and like the nerves I get before I do them. One thing that comes easy for some but still get's me is girls man. I can be the coolest guy all day long with the fellas but put a couple hot single girls in the mix and your boy falls apart. I have gotten better over the years but I still get nervous. I am working on a project now that has me a little on edge but it something new and I think that's a normal reaction. One thing I did learn years ago when training for the Throwdown in T-Town was if you practice and are ready for the event you won't be a nervous. I was scared, very scared a week before that fight but by fight night I was pumped and ready to go. My point today is nerves are common but how you react to them in uncommon
