Charles County Sheriff's Office Incident Reports
TIP TO STUDENT CRIME SOLVERS LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF WEAPON AND DRUGS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS: On Sept. 10 at 8:40 a.m., a school resource officer at Thomas Stone High School received a tip through the Student Crime Solvers program that a student was possibly in possession of a gun which was reportedly in his book bag. After investigating further, administrators and officers found a gun in the bag, which turned out to be an Airsoft gun – something that resembles a handgun but shoots small pellets. In addition, two small bags of suspected marijuana were also found inside the book bag. The student, a senior, was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Cpl. J. Cooney investigated.
DETECTIVE LINKS SUSPECTS TO THEFTS FROM AUTOS AND STOLEN ATM CARDS: Detective D. Savoy of the CCSO Criminal Investigations Division has charged two men in connection with at least four thefts and fraudulent use of ATM cards. In April, two cars parked in the parking lot of the Hiker/Biker Trail at Livingston Road were broken into and unknown suspects stole items including an ATM card. Later that day, two cars parked at the St. Ignatius Church on Chapel Point Road were broken into while the victims were attending church services. In those cases, witnesses recalled seeing a small white pick-up truck. Several weeks later, PFC J. Hatfield initiated an unrelated traffic stop of a white pick-up truck and noted similarities between the vehicle’s occupants and the description of the suspects in the thefts. Det. Savoy followed up on Officer Hatfield’s leads and subsequently linked the suspects to the thefts. The suspects used the stolen ATM cards to withdraw cash and to purchase gas and other items totaling $1300.  James Thomas Abell, Jr., 28, of Nanjemoy and Christopher Glenn James, 25, of La Plata, were charged with theft and destruction of property.
ARMED ROBBERY REPORTED: On Sept.  10 between 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., officers responded to the area of St. Linus Drive for the report of a citizen robbery. The victim told officers he was walking down the road when two males approached in a black car, pointed a gun at him and then stole his money. The victim said the suspects were black males in their late teens or early twenties. One suspect was wearing dark clothing and had tattoos. The other suspect had a light complexion and had a beard. Officer A. Coulby is investigating.
STOLEN ATV AND TRAILER: On Sept. 9 at 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the 6900 block of Heather Bryans Road in Marbury for the report of a theft. The victim said unknown suspect(s) were driving a dark colored truck and stole his white 2001 Wells Cargo trailer which contained a black 2006 Yamaha Banshee four- wheeler. The trailer was stolen from the front of the victim's residence and was witnessed by a neighbor who was unaware it was being stolen at the time. There is also a shed to the rear of the residence that the suspect(s) broke into. At this time it is unknown if any property was stolen from the shed. Officer R. Smith is investigating.

Multiple cases closed in larcenies from vehicles and related crimes

At 3 a.m. on September 3, an off duty officer witnessed two suspicious males pulling on car doors
and shining a flashlight into vehicles at Belmont Apartments on Cowan Boulevard. The officer
detained the two men and called for backup. In a subsequent search of the suspects’ pockets and a
backpack, various items were found including cell phones, prescription medication, and loose
change, as well as multi-tools. It was later discovered that five vehicles had been entered and
property was taken from three of them.
John Thompson, 22, of Fredericksburg was arrested and charged with three counts of larceny from a
vehicle, two counts of attempted larceny from a vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
Kshawn Williams, 19, of Fredericksburg was arrested and charged with three counts of larceny
from a vehicle, two counts of attempted larceny from a vehicle, and possession of a schedule IV
controlled substance.
Williams and Thompson were both incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Also on September 3, officers and detectives served a search warrant at Wellington Lakes Drive and
arrested Maurice Darnell Williams, 24, on multiple counts of grand larceny, tampering with a
vehicle, and burglary. Williams was wanted for his involvement in eleven separate offenses in mid
August in the Braehead Woods subdivision, including one in which an elderly couple was
awakened by the noise of someone inside their home. Williams is incarcerated and the
investigation remains open as it is believed that additional suspects remain at large who are
connected to these cases. A number of items of property stolen in the Braehead incidents were
recovered from Williams’ apartment and returned to their owners.
Fifteen cases have recently been closed with the arrests of three teenagers who stole a car on August
17 from a home on Princess Anne Street that was later recovered in the Olde Forge neighborhood in
Stafford County. Two of the three young males have also been connected with stealing a moped from Caroline Street on the same night and breaking into vehicles all over the city, from downtown
Caroline and Fauquier Streets all the way out to an apartment complex off Plank Road. One of the
suspects, 18-year-old Michael Dean Wade of Stafford, is incarcerated under charges of grand
larceny, vehicle tampering, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor while the other two
suspects have been charged as juveniles and are detained at the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention
Center.
A June incident on Featherston Court in the Hills of Snowden has been solved through forensic
evidence. A fingerprint match led to a detective obtaining warrants against Gregory Wayne Frye,
22, of no fixed address, for two counts of grand larceny from a vehicle and one count of entering a
vehicle with the intent to commit a felony. Detectives continue to investigate the possibility of
Frye’s involvement with other larceny cases in the same neighborhood during the same time period.
                        Displaying Frye, Gregory.jpg
                                 Gregory Frye

Gregory Frye is a black male, 5’8” and 190 pounds, with tattoos on his shoulders. Frye’s current
whereabouts are unknown and anyone with information about him should call Detective Patrick
Lamb at 540-654-5740 or the main number of the Fredericksburg Police Department at 540-373-
3122.
Larcenies from vehicles continue to be one of the most prevalent crimes in Fredericksburg, but it is
also one of the most preventable. Residents and visitors are urged to lock their car doors and
remove any valuables from the car when it is left parked at home or at a business or commuter lot.
