Iron Mike?s Blog 1/10/10 Joe Satriani Rocks Snoqualmie!

Joe Satriani - Saturday, Jan 8, 2011 8:00pm at Snoqualmie Casino, Snoqualmie, WA. Wormhole Tour 2010/2011

This was definitely one 'Wormhole' of a show. The connection: Qwest Field and the Snoqualmie Casino! After the Seahawks pulled off one of greatest upsets in NFL history by knocking out the Superbowl Champs (New Orleans Saints) late that afternoon, many of those football game attendees and fans (including me) showed up to this concert in full Seahawk jerseys and gear! It made for an interesting looking crowd. Ned Evett & Triple Double opened the show and it was cool to see Ned playing his trademark cool ass mirror-like fretless guitar necks! (See video)  Check out his style of guitar drivin' rock here.

Now what can ya say about Joe Satriani that hasn't all ready been said before? One of the greatest rock guitarist to walk planet earth and the only reason ya buy a ticket to see him live is to get your eye balls and ear holes electrified with amazing guitar rock instrumentals. Sure sounds a little boring if you're not totally into that stuff but believe me, what sets Joe apart from the rest is his intuitive and catchy song writing style that seem to always keep ya tuned in and interested. Blasting through a 20-song set (see photo below) that covered much of his two decade existance, Joe also cranked out 4 new tracks off his new "Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards" CD on Epic records. A album created after the passing of his mother in 2009 in which her love of Jazz, R&B and blues oozed deeply into Joe's playing on this new CD. Check out the blues finger talking of "Littleworth Lane" off the album. Overall the band ( Jeff Campitelli (drums), Allen Whiteman (bass), Mike Keneally (keys) and Galen Henson (guitar) ) and Joe were tight and on the groove, crowd a little laid back (maybe fearing the snow falling outside or just tired from the Seahawk's game) but here's some pics from the show of the master at work.
