We're a week late on this update, but we totally have to spend some time talking about the show last week and also the Throwdown in T-Town. I'll start with the show last week since it was awesome and not as much typing is involved. Basically, we had Jeff Loomis on the show. If for some unfortunate reason you're not familiar with him, he's the guitarist for local Seattle band Nevermore. Jeff has a new solo album out now called Zero Order Phase. If you appreciate great guitar playing on any level (especially shredding), this album comes highly recommended by Metal Shop. Click on Jeff's name a few sentences back to check out some tracks. You can also listen to the entire show last week, including the interview with Jeff and a couple songs from the album on the Metal Shop On Demand player. Good times were had, it's always fun to have Jeff on the show, and he brought Skittles this time!!
So by now you've probably heard a lot about the Throwdown in T-Town. Well, we had were a part of it with The Metal Shop Mouthoff. The concept is basically Steve and I talking smack to one another for three 30 seconds round. This was destined to turn into one of those "Yo Mama"-offs. Of course, with Ryan Castle's "expertise" involved, of course a stipulation was brought up that would result in the loser doing something absolutely humiliating. In this case, dressing up like Britney Spears and singing "Oops I Did it Again." Now to be completely honest, I knew as soon as this idea was conceived that I'd end up on the losing end of this battle. First of all, I'm completely terrible at talking smack and making fun of people. I find it pretty hilarious when other people do it, but unless something hits me an instant due to perfect circumstances, I'm pretty much unskilled in the trade of degradation. Second of all, Steve Rock is master of it. He's also a lot more recognizable to more of the station's fans with his random BJ Shea appearances. So by the time it came to really prepare for the event, I had pretty much accepted the fate I was most likely about to be given. And when all was said and done, it turned out I was right. Whether accepting that fate before it happened actually affected my performance remains to be seen. Oh well. It was still a fun night and dressing up like Britney was as terrible as I thought it would be. But don't get me wrong, it was definitely not enjoyable, rather humiliating and embarassing, but I cna take it in stride and besides... I got to throw Steve to the ground like a ragdoll and bang up his shoulder while I was dressed like a woman. That was the best part of the night. Here are some pics.

And a Rock Girl Pillow Fight pic just to put this blog post back on track.
It's now 10:30pm and there's exactly 30 minutes until Metal Shop starts for this week. We get 4 hours tonight because of daylight savings time. 2am is the official time change, and since this time we "fall back", that means the clock goes back to 1am and we have an extra hour of metal. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Now I go make some coffee and switch around a few letters on Steve's keyboard.
