Lost a pet of 17 years two years ago, and losing one of 15 right now. It sucks and takes quite a while to get over. Thoughts are with ya.

I just moved to Mexico about two weeks ago and still heard about what happened. Steve, my heart breaks for you! Nothing mush can equal the Love of a dog. I lost my Brenda Sue in January and I still cry missing her (like right now)! Damb it sucks losing a dog. Rick in Chapala MX

We dont have dogs but two loving cats, one with severe asthma and shes 11. Couldnt imagine losing her. Been the best d@mn felines we have had and we consider them one of our kids. Anyhow, the principal is there and again, Im sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. The grief that one feels at the loss of a beloved pet can rock your world to the very foundation. A hole is left that can not ever be filled but only mourned. We lost our "Fat Cat" Maximum Load this last December on Pearl Harbor day. She had been with me for 14 years; thru a divorce, the loss of my father, and a step-son. I still feel her brush past me and haven't had a decent nap since she passed away. One can never underestimate the power of unconditional love that a pet gives and I hope your happy memories of Lucy help you thru this. Mary from Maple Valley,WA

Had a black lab named Riley who was a typical lab: very friendly but no brains. He was only 2 and some change when he unfortunately ate one of my infant sons diapers (gross, i know) right before Christmas in '08. It was heartbreaking to see him in so much pain. At least I was able to be there with him at the end. Makes me cherish my other pup all the more.

Been listening to you on the radio for so long I swear I knew Lucy too! We could all tell she was a sweetheart and full of happiness. there probably are no words to make you feel better-I dread the day I loose my beagle, Baxter. Take care, in time another 4 legged friend will enter your life, but never take the place of Lucy.

I had to punish my rotten little corgi Jameson for being naughty this morning, but when I get home I'm going to give him a giant hug because he means to me what Lucy meant to you. So sorry for your loss, Steve. Your stories about Lucy and getting cracked on by BJ and crew were always hilarious. Much respect to you and the love you had for your pooch. It was obvious. She is beautiful and will always be.

I'm so sorry about Lucy, Steve :-( I understand completely how hard it is for you. I lost my beloved Dollye, a 5lb Maltese who was my little girl and best friend for over 10 years, 5 years ago after a valve popped in her heart, and I can tell you that the pain doesn't go away. I love her and miss her as much as the day she died. But it has brought me peace to know that Dollye is at peace with the quiet earth, and I hope that someday it will bring you peace to know that Lucy is now, too. I know that no words can really cover the loss, but I want you to know that Lucy lived an awesome life. Hearing about Lucy and everybody on BJ Shea was so funny, and brought such joy to my life, a literal smile to my face every morning! Lucy was a blessing to any KISW listener. And I know she thanks you for giving her 7 happy years as her daddy! Hang in there, man.

Sorry for your loss Steve. We have both cats and dogs. We've had to put 3 of our cats to sleep due to illness in one year. It is heartbreaking. I'm very close to one our two dogs. I can't imagine life without him. Hang in there. Lucy will always be with you in spirit.

Sorry again for your loss bro :( my mom had to put our german shepards down about 3 yrs ago and it still hurts. My wife also had to give up her german shepard and her great Dane last year after joining the Marine Corps. and that was tough on her also. Hopefully Lulu will be just as awesome for you as Lucy was :)

My husband and I are very much "dog people"...listening to the broadcast this morning had us in tears. So sorry for your loss Steve, we hope that it will get easier for you as time passes. Losing a dog (pet) is harder on us sometimes than losing a "human" loved one. We have two beautiful 9 year old Yellow Labs that are so full of unconditional love and we see them "slowing down". It breaks our hearts; for they are our children, our best friends. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and yours.

She sounded like a great dog, it's super tough to lose a dog that's always by your side. Had to go through it a few years ago with my scottish terrier but at least my dog was 15 and not only 7 years old. Such a shame Lucy had to go in her prime, but always cherish the memories you had with her.

I remember all of my dogs in my life. I lost my black lab (Bryar) a couple of years ago. My wife and I also lost her yellow lab (Amy) back in April. Still very hard and miss them every day. We still have one of Amy's son's but even he aged quite a bit after he lost his mommy. She protected and cared for him until the end when she was very sick. An amazing bond. No matter how much it still hurts, we still have the amazing memories of all of our past 4 legged children. Their love is unconditional and constant no matter what. We can never replace them or fill the hole from there loss. However we can love again new sons and daughters. Sorry for your loss Steve. Look up a dogs plea and a dogs prayer.

I wanted to let you know how sorry I was to hear about Lucy. We have dogs (actually one named Lucy who is 7 yo) and take care of my daughters dogs too. I know that no matter what happens in life the doggies are always there to comfort. When I lost my Lab Sebastian, I cried for I think about a month(He will never be replaced) I cried so much that I had a chronic sinus infection. You had the kind of relationship with Lucy that I have with my dogs. You are in my family's thoughts. It ALWAYS sucks when they leave so suddenly-take care-Kim

I listen every morning, and knew immediately something bad had happened right at the open. Would have never guessed it would be Lucy. I have an old springer spaniel and yellow and black labs. Pulled over and texted my wife. We are both so sorry. Been down all day. Hang in there bro..-Harp

I lost my pet beagle 3 days before I left for basic training in the Air Force! I got her when I was around 4! Talk about heart ache! Bam! Your going to be a man and BAM your lifelong friend who got you thru the horrible teen times is dead! I know how youfeel man! I still miss her sometimes, and she passed in 1989! Sorry for your loss! I am so sorry to hear about Lucy. I have lost several pets in a 1 1/2 year time span. My cat named cat died two summers ago. i am not sure how old she was as we adopted her. My other cat last summer, his name was simba he was 18 years old and in January of this year we lost our beloved german shepard Gideon he was 9 years old. We have lost 2 dogs in the past few years and I will have to say those are the most heartbreaking losses of my life. I was listening this morning in my car on the way to work and started sobbing. Be strong Steve it will get better. We Love You

Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. We also felt we knew Lucy through listening to you on the radio. I had to have one of our Chihuahuas put to sleep last year and can totally relate to how you are feeling. Hang in there.

ON VALENTINES DAY MY BLACK LAB ABBY PASSED AWAY AT MY FEET. SHE WAS 12. ALWAYS CHEERFUL, HAPPY AND EXCITED TO SEE ANYONE WHO CAME BY THE HOUSE. SHE HAD A WEIRD ABILITY TO CURL UP HER TOP CHEEKS TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE SHE WAS SMILING, SHOWING HER TOP TEETH. SOME PEOPLE THOUGHT SHE WAS A MEAN DOG BY THIS SMILE. SHOWING HER TEETH WHILE SQUIRMING, WAGGING HER TAIL BUT NEVER BARKING OR GROWLING AT ANYONE WHILE SHOWING OFF HER SMILE. FOR 12 YEARS THIS ACT MADE ME AND ANYBODY ELSE HAPPY TO SEE HER. I THINK SHE DID THIS JUST TO GET ATTENTION, THAT SHE ALWAYS GOT. SO DONT BE SAD TOO LONG. FOR 7 YEARS LUCY MADE YOU HAPPY. LUCY WILL ALWAYS LIVE IN YOUR HEART JUST LIKE ABBY WILL ALWAYS LIVE IN MINE.

Steve, I always listen to the show at work every morning. I don't work Fridays so I download the podcast and listen at work on Sundays. I had to pause my podcast for a moment listening to your story. I'm so sorry to hear of this news, I've lost pets and people and I understand what you're going through. Sending all our thoughts and love your way!

Hey STP, I was so sad to hear about Lucys passing when I listened to the podcast from last Friday. I know what you're going through and it's tuff. It's been two years since my cat Stevie died after falling 6 floors from my apartment balcony and I still get a bit chocked up when I think about it. Feel for you dude. Much love from Sweden! W
