Before I get into exactly how rad Malevolent Creation is, I would like to say that just a couple hours ago I was over at Studio Seven watching a badass show on a TUESDAY night. It's nice to know that even on the slowest of weeknights, Seattle metalheads know what's up. Unfortunately, the Absence had a little van trouble and they weren't able to make the show. Colorado thrashers Havok tore it up, though, adding a bit of speed to some pretty classic-Slayer-sounding riffs. Enough to get my head banging, that's for sure. Those dudes have a new full length coming out on March 29th titled "Time Is Up."
If you're a fan of the chuggity chug, make sure you check out Full Blown Chaos. These burly New Yorkers play heavy, in-your-face metalcore chock full of pit-clearing breakdowns to punch your friend in the face to.
I especially have to thank Full Blown Chaos' frontman Ray for this timeless quote...
"If you're not moving, you're a target. First one to bleed gets a free t-shirt. Let's beat the sh*t out of each other."
It was nice to see the show mixed up, too, as we saw a thrash band, a hardcore band and a classic death metal band share the stage in one tour package.
And then there was Malevolent. This band is on a whole new level of heavy. You wanna talk about brutal? These dudes were slamming pretty hard in 1990 and that was 21 years ago! Damn straight they're still at it!
And remember, when this Friday rolls around, you best be at one of these badass shows!!!
