Final Four Weekend 3/30/12

This week I got a bad flu and missed a couple days of work. Number one I do not like to sick days so I was not happy about that but then on the other side I also do not like to be that sick. I like to think I know my body and I was scared that it was going to get worse and get pneumonia. I had it a couple years ago so I am always worried if I don't take care of myself when sick I will get it again. The point of this is that I am going to lay low this weekend and stay in the house and watch sports and a great weekend to do it.

First on Saturday we have the Final Four games. Now I am not the biggest college hoops fan the last couple of years but I enjoy March Madness and the Final Four. I am very much looking forward to the first match-up this weekend which is Kentucky VS Louisville. Its a huge rivalry game already and then you toss on top that it is for a birth in the National Championship game. If that is not enough of a reason to watch this game the two coaches don't really like each other and have not for years. It should be a great game and a exciting match up. The second game is between Ohio St. and Kansas. I don't really have too much passion for either team but for some reason I am just not a Ohio St. fan so I will be Rock, Chalk, Jayhawks for the second game. I plan on watching these two games at a bar and have a couple beers and then its back to my couch for the Sounders FC match. I am a season ticket holder but am skipping this one since I was sick all week. I figure sitting out in the rain and cold might be the best call in the world. Either way I have a nice little Saturday planned and hope you have a great weekend as well.

NCAA Basketball 3/23/12
Sun is back and I am stoked. Last weekend was a awesome one and this weekend is shaping up to be a good one as well. Tonight there is another home match for our Seattle Sounders FC and I am happy to come into the office and see Thrill, Ben, Castle, And Brian Thorpe from promotions all in their Sounders gear today. I am so excited as well because I have a whole group of guys I don't see much outside of going to games with them and it is always fun with those guys. Either way tonight will be fun and then get set for some sun tomorrow and hoops.

So this blog may make you mad at me and say Ted what is your problem man? Here is the deal with March Madness for me this year is I did not fill out a bracket. I never thought of the repercussions of this grave mistake. As I have watched NCAA basketball games over the last couple weeks I realize without the bracket I have not been as into the games I usually am. This brings me to a good point that even if you don't bet money on the bracket it is good to fill one out. I was shocked by some of the upset's but real shocked when I found out what some teams were ranked. The point is that I am lost this tournament and it is no one fault except myself. I often make mistakes but this was a huge one and I am sorry. I will try to do better next year. Go Sounders

St.Paddy's Day 3/19/12
I know I often start these blogs talking about the weather but weekend was another crazy one and while it seems the whole country is seeing spring old man winter will not let us go. As a guy that has lived here for seven years I know that the rain sticks around for a while but its damn cold out there. Now on Saturday when I got up it was snowing again. Even with all this crazy weather it was still a great weekend with a lot of fun stuff to do.

So last Thursday my Sister got into town with her boyfriend Pat. Side note Pat is also a DeMATHA guy so that's a huge plus in his corner. Anyhow I took a vacation day on Friday and we went to eat in the Space needle. It was a great afternoon and evening as I tried to show them that when the sun comes out here in Seattle it is time for sitting outside no matter what the temperature is. Having people in town is a reason to go up in the needle and I always forget unless I go up to the top just how cool it is and since it was Friday it was nice outside to boot. Saturday was going to be huge day number one because the Sounders FC had the first regular season game at home and it was St.Paddy's day. People love to get drunk on St.Paddy's day and that is a known fact. My Sister cooked some corned beef that was very good and they we hit some bars in the afternoon. As we walked from Belltown down to stadium areas I saw a bunch of drunk people having a grand old time. I saw a lot of green and rave green. The game was great as the Sounders took the game by a 3-1 victory. After the game we all went home and feel asleep quickly if you know what I am saying and I think you do. So I hope your weekend was good as well and stay warm since it is cold outside still.

Weather and March 3/9/12

What a nice few days we have got to enjoy here in the NW. The weather has been all over the map this year here in Seattle and most of the country. It is unbelievable how just a few short days ago people had snow then yesterday was almost 60 and it sounds like it is going to get cold again tonight. Crazy stuff going on here but its OK because it is almost time for the NCAA basketball tournament. AKA March Madness

So today before I left the house I was watching some of the ACC conference tournament since my favorite college team the Maryland Terps were playing and in keeping with the theme all year they got beat by UNC. This is a great weekend to watch conference tournaments since a lot of the teams that have a real shot of winning a title are playing this weekend. I can't lie and say I watch a ton of Big East hoops by I am always down for some Big East tournament action at Madison Square Garden. I like how they have the final on Saturday night in the Garden. I went to it one year with my brother and we had a blast. We got robbed as well in NYC that weekend but hey it was still fun. My cousin Tom and his buddy go to the ACC tournament some years and have told me that it is a great time. The is the other cool thing about March and basketball is you can play a few games within a weekend. I say find that spot you like on the couch and settle into a weekend of hoops.

NIce people 3/2/12

Today I was walking into work and saw some different people. When I say different people I mean all kinds of different looking people. Some were dressed in office duds and some were chilling in jeans and a winter jacket. I watch all these people and think I like any of them that are nice people and are nice to others. I bring this up because is it really that hard to be nice to people?

I am asking this question today because for lunch I walked over to Subway to a get a sandwich and the guy working there was super nice. He was so nice it did really brighten up my day. I started to think about people I know and sometimes you hear well he is a nice guy if he knows you. To that I ask are to good to be nice to people you don't know? I get that everyone has bad days and sometimes your are not going to be in a good mood but is it that hard to be nice and kind to people. It does not matter what kind of field your in except maybe fighting that being nice will go a long way. Now while I say be nice it down not be a pushover but hey is it that hard to look people in the eye and be nice when they speak to you. Its not really at all and sometimes your being nice will result in rude answers and people trying to clown you but forget them and let them go home to there life that is so much better than yours, but then again in a life you always put people down doesn't sound like a happy life at all to me. Be nice and smile at some people, it will go a long way. Cheers and have a good weekend
