You could hear it faintly throughout the Pike Place Market as the band walked the streets around before the show, "Amon Amarth, the Vikings are here again". Across from the Pike Place Market lay ground zero for another one of Amon Amarth's epic Seattle concerts. Usually set with a stage show in some Viking theme, the last time here at El Corazon they couldn't because of the stage space limitations. This time on this current "Jomsviking" CD tour, they nearly met the same fate of not using any stage props at the Showbox Market, but with (seriously) only 2-3 inches to spare from the roof they fit the mighty Viking battle mask that holds new Amon Amarth drummer extraordinaire Jocke Wallgren up 10-15ft in the air! Best drum riser since Eric Carr (Kiss) on the tank in 1982 {view} for the Creatures of the Night tour! {See video of his drum cam from Boston below}.

Hailing from Tumba, Sweden their brand of melodic Viking themed anthemic death metal finally cracked the Billboard Top 20 (#19) with Jomsviking through Metal Blade Records March 25th. Their setlist cranked through 19 songs in which 5 off the new album were featured including the new for-sure setlist mainstay "Raise Your Horns". A Viking toast to drinking! They are making a new video for this song and asking fans (according to their Facebook page) "Send us video clips of you and your friends raising your horns for a chance to be included in our next music video. Video clips should be e-mailed to [email protected]. YouTube links should include ‪#‎RaiseYourHorns‬ in the title." So for fans wanting to possibly get in the next video here's your chance! Here's video {view here} of them toasting us here in Seattle.

Very few band shows you go to have this unique unity between the fans and the band like Amon Amarth do. It's like one big family together for near 2 hours of fist pumping, headbanging, singing together (see sample), drinking and for many celebrating their Nordic heritage. We all have a little Viking in us all right? Thanks to YouTube member VenoM Rock for posting this video of "Cry of the Black Birds" showing the great sold-out crowd here in Seattle!

Amon Amarth are on a roll recently being added to the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest 2 festival in California with Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Slayer, Megadeth and more! Next time Amon Amarth roll into Seattle I expect it to be at Showbox Sodo or Moore Theatre. Check out their new album "Jomsviking" {buy}, their 10th studio album and first concept release, its awesome as usual. Braveheart music to wake the neighborhood with ha! Here's the first video "First Kill" {check out the stage setup}

Openers Exmortus and Entombed A.D. crushed it! California's Exmortus blend a power/thrash/shred format of metal that the crowd loved! Probably the best dual guitar attack I've seen in a long time! Check out this video for the solo break..bad ass!!!

Entombed A.D. (formally Entombed) are a Swedish power/Death metal band featuring former Entombed vocalist Lars Göran Petrov who also did guest vocals on Amon Amarth's track/video "Guardians of Asgaard". The band was tight and they crushed the Entombed covers they mainly did. Check out their new album "Dead Dawn" here!
