“Big Trade”

It’s time to turn down for Thursday Rock-A-Holics! On this Friday jr. I patiently wait for the NBA to return to Seattle by reading some incredible trade news! The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics agreed upon the biggest trade of the off season thus far and boy was it a blockbuster. The Cavs traded Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and a 2018 first round pick. For those of you who don’t know, Isaiah Thomas played for UW in college and had an incredible season with the Celtics last year; his team finishing in first place. It’s always great to see UW players go on to do great things, and playing with Lebron is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience. This trade definitely makes the Cavs a favorite to make the finals so I’m sure Isaiah isn’t too unhappy about the trade. Kyrie, on the other hand, may have mixed feelings. He’s going to be a star in Boston but now he has to beat his former teammate and arguably best player in the league, King James. I decided to refresh my mind with some video of the crazy shots these players and others made throughout the season last year.

Check out this video of the top 50 most insane shots from 2017:

Always fun to see great players making insane shots. Kyrie and Thomas were both in this video and it’s hard for me to choose who I like more. I’ve always been a Celtics fan so seeing Isaiah leave is hard to watch but at the same time I’ve seen a lot of Cavs games because of my love for Lebron and I know how good Kyrie is. It seems to me that the Cavs got a better deal, even if Kyrie is the best player in the trade. People are giving the Celtics a lot of crap for this trade but I think I understand it. A lot of teams are spending this year are rebuilding because of how strong The Golden State Warriors are. Kyrie is the kind of player that you build a team around and while Isaiah is no joke when it comes to skill, Kyrie is even better. It seems like the Celtics got what they wanted and the Cavs got stronger, which is definitely a plus for the 2018 season. In my mind, The Cavs are the only team that can come close to beating The Warriors and with this trade, they got some much needed depth. Here’s to hoping for a great 2018 season!

Who do you think got the better trade, The Celtics or the Cavs?
