RIP Dio - Remember 12.31.85 Seattle?

Today May 16, 2016 marks the 6th year Ronnie James Dio passed away from cancer. To help spread the word worldwide on the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund I’m releasing this audience audio I recorded for the first time over 30 years ago in Seattle of Dio's New Years Eve Seattle show 12.31.85 online. If you're old enough maybe ya remember that at the Seattle Center Coliseum (aka Key Arena now) with our very own Seattle rock gods TKO and then Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force opening! I had my handy Walkman (aka cassette tape player) with me and decided to put it in my front pocket and record for my own ears.

Well yesterday, 3 decades later, I blew the dust off the casing and decided to check it out and hey it's a pretty good audience recording. So I transferred it from tape to digital and created an audio video to raise awareness for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund in which his long time manager/wife Wendy Dio runs. She's pretty cool as I gotta hang with her on the Monsters of Rock Cruise couple of years ago while she ran a killer auction for the fund onboard. So I thought this would be a cool little tribute to one of the great voices of rock and heavy metal since for some weird force never got to shoot photos live.

Listen, remember and please donate or purchase merch at www.diocancerfund.org --Formed in honor of the legendary singer who lost his life to stomach cancer, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable fund dedicated to support cancer prevention research, raise awareness and educate the public with the focus that early detection and prevention is of vital importance when dealing with this deadly disease.
