Rock Blog: Remembering Chuck Berry
Chuck Berry, the man who perhaps had more influence on Rock and Roll than anyone has died. He was 90.
He was in the inaugural class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had his first hit, “Maybellene” in 1955 and continued to play around his hometown of St. Louis through this past October. He was ready to release his first album in 38 years. The dude never stopped.
Without Chuck Berry, there would be no Rolling Stones, Beatles, Grateful Dead, Beach Boys, Dylan and countless others. He essentially created the Rock and Roll guitar riff. Read Keith Richards bio “Life”, and he lays it all out.
Chuck Berry was Rock and Roll. He was one of the originals, and he leaves a void in the foundation of the greatest American music form.
