Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: 5 Beers for Non-Beer Drinkers

September 28, 2016

I was very confused when I saw #NationalDrinkBeerDay on Twitter this morning. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?! Isn't that EVERY day? Well, it certainly is for me... And Frank The Tank...

So why have this day at all? I started to think about it. Many folks aren't big into beer. Many folks wouldn't say that beer is their first choice. So a day like today might encourage the wine drinker or the whiskey drinker to pick up a frosty bottle of beer instead. For that reason, I decided to list my Top 5 Beers For Non-Beer Drinkers. Behold!

1. Decibel Brewing Company in Bothell, WA - 'Deciwit': This spiced wheat beer has low IBUs, so if you're not into the bitter beers, your taste buds will rejoice!

2.  Skookum Brewery in Arlington, WA - 'Three-Six-Oh Pale Ale': Three malts, six hops and zero regard for style guidelines. An over-hopped pale ale brewed with premium British pale malt and oats. Flavors of tangerine, pine resin and floral/honey notes.

3.  Elysian Brewing Company in Seattle, WA - 'Superfuzz': This blood orange pale ale is described as a mind-bending whirl of the aromas and flavors of blood orange and Northwest hops. It's VERY gentle on the palate and insanely tasty. It's a seasonal summer ale, so if you can still find it - GRAB IT!

4.  Farmstrong Brewing Company in Mt. Vernon, WA - 'Wize Hefe'r': This is a true Bavarian Hefeweizen. The beer offers hints of banana and clove aromas with a full body and flavor. Prost!

5.  Whitewall Brewing Company in Marysville, WA - 'Traction Control Cream Ale': Very clean, crisp, and refreshing, this is a great beer for the newbie to the craft beer scene!

Enjoy National Drink Beer (EVERY) Day!

Happy Adventuring,
