Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Craft Brews & Snow Shoes

February 13, 2017

POWERED BY VISIT BEND

Getting out of town for a winter getaway is one of my favorite things to do this time of year, and with Bend Oregon SO close by, you'll have an absolute blast heading there for a few days of Craft Brews & Snow Shoes! Just a quick flight from Seattle or a scenic 6-hour drive, you'll be sipping unique IPAs and breathing in the crisp wintry air in no time.

Whether you need a guys' or girls' weekend away, a couple's retreat, or even a solo soul-searching trip, there are several great places to stay in the area. In the past, I've stayed at Brasada Ranch and DoubleTree by Hilton and both were PHENOMENAL spots! There are several hotels to choose from, depending on what you're looking for. You can be right downtown just steps from everything, or opt for somewhere a little outside town for more tranquility.

This time of year, I recommend renting some snow shoes and hitting the hills. There are several outfitters who rent equipment in Bend, so no need to have your own gear. Although once you've been, you'll probably be hooked and might end up buying your own! I sense a new hobby in your future... For first time snow shoers, it's not a bad idea to hook up with an organized trip. Wanderlust Tours will take GREAT care of you, as they know all of the most magical places to visit on snow shoes in Deschutes National Forest. Plus they'll hook you up with hot cocoa. *Peppermint Schnapps not included.

After a few hours of exploring Oregon's Cascade Mountain Range, you'll definitely want to relax at some of Bend's legendary craft breweries. The most interactive way to do so is by embarking on the Bend Ale Trail! I started my trail journey during my last visit to Bend, and I can't wait to pick up where I left off next time.

There's a handy app you can download and stamp as you go.

Check out the Bend Brew Bus, as they're the BEST way to get from brewery to brewery. They're the friendliest, most knowledgeable designated drivers in town!

Find the Bend Brew Bus driving around town stopping at your favorite places! (The beer/spirits/coffee branch of @wanderlusttours) . . . . #bendbrewbus #brewerytours #coffeetour #inbend #bendhistory #coffee #thebestofbend #beer #locallydistilledspirits #inbend
