Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: So I Bought A Fixer Upper...

November 14, 2016

POWERED BY VISIT BEND

Holy crap, I bought a house. Last week, I became the proud owner of a fixer-upper. When I use the term "fixer-upper" I really mean it, because the house in its current state is completely uninhabitable! The house will be stripped down to the studs and rebuilt. Have I lost my mind? Probably. Am I excited to get my hands dirty? Absolutely!

As handy as I am when it comes to projects, I've definitely bit off more than I can chew, so I am very pleased to have a general contractor helping me out with the big stuff. The work we're looking at will take at least 2 months, likely 3+. So there goes all my free time for the forseeable future.

I'm curious if you have been through the process of fixing up a home, and if so, what pieces of advice might you have for me. Share your story - the good, the bad, the ugly. What lessons did you learn the hard way? Where did you go wrong? Where did you go right? What would you do differently if you could? Send me an email with your tips!

It's a huge undertaking, but I am really excited to make this place a home I'll be proud to live in. I can't wait to share progress stories and photos with you all! Any advice along the way would be greatly appreciated!

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
