Upcoming Music Benefit Supports Longtime Local Drummer Battling Cancer

October 31, 2017

Dave McCabe has been sharing his talents behind the drum kit and his passion for music for decades.

Back in the 90s, he was in a band called Dr. Grind. From the early 2000s to the present, he's been drumming for Cavernous Groove. He's also been a highly respected member of the Blues community for many years, serving as the house drummer at Unbound Jam at the Madison Pub in Everett. To say that Dave is loved by the music community would be an understatement. And now, it's time for us to take that love to a new level, as Dave is battling multiple myeloma, a cancer formed by malignant plasma cells.

This is actually Dave's second battle with cancer. He's already beaten thyroid cancer once, and he's fighting this second battle like a true champion. But he's not fighting this battle alone - Dave's incredible network of family, friends, musicians and fans are coming together on Sunday November 12th to throw a bad-ass benefit to help him and his family through his cancer journey. It's very appropriately named Davapalooza, and YOU are invited, Rockaholics!

Here's a look and a listen at his music from over the years:

There will be many a musician at the show on November 12th, but keep an eye out for Nesby Glasgow, too, who will be at Dave's benefit to help raise money. Nesby played football for the University of Washington Huskies and was named to the UW "All Century Team" back in the early 90s. He played in the NFL for the Baltimore Colts, Indianapolis Colts and he finished his career here in Seattle with the Seahawks. He will be signing autographs and taking photos, so come prepared!

You should be able to snag some merch and tunes at the show, too, which you will LOVE - I do!

Dave and his family would LOVE to see you at the Madison Avenue Pub on November 12th, but if you can't make it, you can always make a donation to the Go Fund Me page helping to offset the costs of his treatment and related necessities. It's all about Rockaholics Helping Rockaholics!

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
