If you are a American soccer fan, then you know about the intense rivalry between the Seattle Sounders FC and the Portland Timbers. This Saturday, this great rivalry is renewed as the Timbers travel from their fun little town to the big city to take on the current MLS Champions Seattle Sounders FC. Now, it's well known that I am a huge Seattle Sounders FC fan and as much as I might poke fun at Portland, part of the reason this rivalry is so good is because of both fan bases. I have talked about this often, but the trips down there to Portland on the buses with the Emerald City Supporters are some of the best sports experience of my life. This rivalry is even more exciting since both teams have won the last two MLS Cups. Portland won two years ago and the Sounders FC last year, thus adding fuel to the fire.

Here is what you need know heading into Saturday...

Number one: The stadium will be rocking and rolling on Saturday and you have never been to Portland vs. Seattle match then you are in for a treat. I would also say maybe get down there early and do the march to the match. The march is always fun, but the one for this game will be awesome. Marching to the match will also be a great way to interact with other supporters and learn the songs. When is the last time you were able to turn that walk into a march with a bunch of friends singing songs after some drinks? It is a great time and Seattle is the bigger city and they are supposed to win. Have some fun with other fans too! Watch the language, but don't be afraid to get into some good banter with the Timbers fans. Have fun, stay hydrated and let's go Sounders!
