Throwback to 2003: Red Hot Chili Peppers Performance
By: Maura O'Malley
On August 23, 2003, Red Hot Chili Peppers played at Slane Castle in County Meath, Ireland. Also on the bill that day were Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, and Feeder. Talk about a solid show. While the entire concert was no doubt amazing, our Throwback Thursday pick is their performance of “Californication.”
That intro alone is unreal. It’s like a dance-off in bass/guitar form.
And can we talk about the crowd? When the intro cuts, they go nuts. And who could blame them? Speaking of nuts, how wild is the sheer size of the crowd? Right on.
Below, we’re taking it back to present day. Check out last night’s (2/15) set list from their New York show.
