90's Nerd Nostalgia

Vicky's Nerdy N Dirty Blog

January 11, 2018

Hey there everyone! Have you noticed that everywhere you look, 90's media, fashion, music, or what have you is popping up everywhere?

Here are some of the cool nostalgia filled things that have got me going nuts (in a good way)!

Animaniacs is coming back!

It has been 20 years since we last saw a new episode featuring Yakko, Wakko, and Dot as well as other (dare I say) classic characters like Pinky and the Brain but it looks like we are getting finally getting a reboot! Hulu picked up two brand new seasons premiering in 2020! I’m just curious how different they will change it and if it will still include “adult jokes” the kids won’t get.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Airbnb

This one is insane! For $10 a night, you can stay in “The Turtle Lair”! It sleeps 6 people, include free pizza, and a variety of fun activities to do! It’s great if you are ever visiting New York, but chances are that it’s already booked.

Pokémon Gold and Silver for 3DS

Everyone went nuts when Pokémon Go launched, but the one game I’m really eyeing is the Pokémon Silver and Gold for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console!

The original Pokémon Silver/Gold games came out in November of 1999, and little Vicky got it for Christmas a month later. Those game were the second generation (the first being the Reds, Blue, Green, and Yellow) and it was legit.

Well, the new version of the games will include 100 more Pokémon, held items, Pokémon eggs as well as letting you trade and battle Pokémon using local wireless on the Nintendo 3DS systems!

My little brother Juan who still plays a lot of the handheld games still told me about, and here are his thoughts:

“The new version is really similar to the one we grew up playing. The graphics for the most part are pretty similar, but they're just more up-to-date, giving you a more futuristic feel of what the game was. I still think it is fun because it gives you other things to do but you obviously can't beat the feel of playing the original for the first time. Either way, I'd still say these new ones are fun regardless.”
