Jabroni Journal: When Wrestler's Sing - Brian Christopher "Jabroni"

January 12, 2017

It's truly something to behold when professional wrestlers step into the music world. There have been a small number of sucesses - John Cena certainly sold a healthy number of copies when he recorded a rap album more than a decade ago and former WWE Intercontinental Champion MVP has garnered underground attention for a few of his own hip hop singles. And Macho Man's rap album? Well that's just classic! But for every success there are a few cringewrothy efforts that are just too hilarious to ignore. This week, I wanted to shine a light on a single from 2015 that you just might have missed.

Brian Christopher is the son of WWE Hall of Famer and Memphis wrestling icon Jerry "The King" Lawler. He first entered WWE in the mid 90's as "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher, but later found success under the name "Grandmaster Sexay" alongside Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty. Collectively they were known as TOO COOL. During the Attitude Era, TOO COOL was undoubtedly popular and their dance routines got fans involved sometimes more than the actual matches.

15 years later, Brian Christopher had the genius idea to record and release his debut solo album titled, "Bringin' Sexay Back." Throughout the album there are three themes: how many fans Grandmaster Sexay has, sex, and how cool Memphis wrestling is.

Being that this is JABRONI JOURNAL, I found it fitting that we focus on one track this week: JABRONI. Sexay pays homage to Elvis Presley on this track as he goes through a list of "Jabroni's" including Jake the Snake, Ric Flair and King Kong Bundy..........It gives a new definition to the phrase "So bad it's good."
