Jabroni Journal: WWE Payback Predictions

April 27, 2017

This coming Sunday night is the first Pay Per View event since WrestleMania 33 and the “Superstar Shakeup”, which saw several stars witching from Raw to Smackdown and vice versa. There are a lot of exciting feuds going on right now and I’m curious to see how far the company will allow Braun Strowman to go as an unstoppable monster and with Samoa Joe as an unbeaten enforcer. Here are my predictions for WWE Payback.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson – This might not be the most popular opinion, but I’ve soured a bit on Enzo and Big Cass. To me, their act has gotten a bit stale and it’s always predictable how one of their matches will go – Enzo will get beaten to hell with Big Cass making the save OR Cass will be dominating the match, but Enzo will make a key mistake that forces them to lose. They’ve gone out of their way to make Enzo look like a loud mouth weakling. That being said, they aren’t doing much better with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, as their natural charisma has been neutered by the generic bad guy bully characters they’re being cast as. But I digress… As far as this match goes, I would put my money on Enzo and Big Cass, as they are the fan favorites and would be a feel good victory for the crowd to cheer.
Winners: Enzo Amore and Big Cass

Kevin Owens (United States Champion) vs. Chris Jericho – Kevin Owens is on fire right now with his whole “New Face of America” tagline and his hilarious, off the cuff promos he has been cutting on Talking Smack – the Smackdown post show. Putting Owens on Smackdown was a great move, as it allows him to truly shine as a cornerstone for that show and gives him a bit of breathing room.  Jericho on the other hand is doing just as well on Raw. Within the past year we’ve really seen a renaissance of Jericho, as he has proven just why he’s so damn good even toward the twilight of his career – yes he is an incredible in ring performer, but his character work is hilarious, witty and always on point. I could easily see either of these guys walking out with the belt, but in reality I am gonna have to go with Owens, as I don’t see them flipping the belts back and forth so quickly.
Winner: Kevin Owens (Retains United States Championship)

The Hardy Boyz (Raw Tag Team Champions) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus – It’s so satisfying to see The Hardyz back home where they belong with a refreshed sense of value. This will be one hell of a match, as we have four incredible wrestlers going at it, but in the end we will see the Hardyz retain.
Winner: The Hardy Boyz (Retain Raw Tag Team Championships)

Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt (House Of Horror Match) – We are yet to really see exactly what a House of Horror match is, but I am intrigued. I would love for this match to take place somewhere out in the woods, close to where Bray’s shack was located. I want a completely different feel to this match to make it distinct. This could be the new Casket Match, Buried Alive Match or Boiler Room Brawl. I’m expecting a ton of ridiculous shenanigans with Bray coming out as victor. Why? It’s not for the title. Randy Orton is the WWE World Champion, but because Bray moved over to Raw, they decided to make this a non-title match. Therefore we have an opportunity to make Bray look dominate to end the feud and go into a war with Finn Balor without making Randy Orton look too weak.
Winner: Bray Wyatt

Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman – Braun Strowman has been the most entertaining part of Raw for the last few weeks. He completely decimated Roman and has kept destroying every superstar that steps in his way. Though they are certainly on a mission to make Roman Superman-like, I see Braun Strowman brutally beating him this time. Will he win the war? Probably not. But he will win this battle.
Winner: Braun Strowman.

Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe – This is the match I’m actually looking forward to the most. Two of the top talented badasses on the WWE roster going to head to head with no gimmicks needed. These two have quite the heated rivalry going on right now, so I have no doubt that this match will be hard-hitting and vicious. As awesome as Seth Rollins is, they haven’t beaten Samoa Joe yet, and I think they are going to continue to build him up as a true destroyer.
Winner: Samoa Joe

Bayley (Raw Women’s Champion) vs. Alexa Bliss – Here’s the title change for the night. Children everywhere will cry as their hero Bayley is dethroned by the new face of the Raw Women’s Division.
Winner: Alexa Bliss (New Raw Women’s Champion)
