Jabroni Journal: Throwback Jams - WrestleMania The Album (1993)

June 20, 2017

As I've previously mentioned in this blog, I'm a collector of all things old school wrestling - t-shirts, action figures, posters, VHS tapes, hats...you name it! I am also a huge collector of cassette tapes. It first started when I bought my car - a 2004 Hyundai Elantra that for some reason came with only a cassette deck. Why the hell did that come stock in 2004? I'll never know. Instead of upgrading my stereo, I decided to embrace the vintage style and seek out cassette tapes. I now have a few hundred metal, punk, hardcore and rap tapes alongside some random pop and classic rock tunes.

So when my two favorite things to collect collide, you know it's a good day! On a recent trip to Portland, I stopped by Crossroads Record Mall, which is a super badass place to search for music.

After about 40 minutes of searching through the vinyl, I decided to kneel down on one leg and go through their tape bins. And there it was - an official "World Wrestling Federation Superstars 'Wrestlemania The Album'" tape straight out of 1993. I totally remember when this thing was originally released and I got so stoked to finally have this thing in my hands.

This tape is gold - super cheesy 90's jams that feature "singing" (more like offbear talking) by superstars of the era like Big Boss Man, Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Tatanka and many more. Take a trip down memory lane with me and rock out to the most well known song from the tape, a track that gets me feeling suuuuuper nostalgic, "Wrestlemania." PUMP IT UP, PUMP IT UP!
