Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Plan A One-Tank-Trip to Kalaloch Beach

July 18, 2017

POWERED BY WESTERN WASHINGTON HONDA DEALERS

Everyone should experience the beauty of Washington's coast line, and with miles and miles of beaches to choose from, you're bound to stumble upon a favorite at some point in your life! If you've never visited Kalaloch Beach in Olympic National Park, add this to your growing list of One-Tank-Trips.

A trip to Forks has a couple travel options, both filled with beautiful adventures and scenic views. You can drive down and around on the 101 through Olympia and then up the coast to Forks, or you can take the Edmonds/Kingston Ferry and take the 101 down the coast. Either way, your travel time is in the 4-hour range, so not bad at all!

Depending on your style, you might opt for Kalaloch Lodge, a gorgeous retreat on a driftwood beach tucked into the Olympic forest. You'll only need your cell phone to snap a few photos. Otherwise, you'll likely be without service, and that's the whole point! Completely unplugged relaxation. Choose between the Main Lodge, private Cabins or the Seacrest House.

Snuggle up on a log with a roaring beach fire and take in a legendary sunset.

If you're looking to camp, Kalaloch Campground is your spot! With 161 campsites in total, several are on the high bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean with beach access in multiple locations. Your experience there will be most peaceful, surrounded by lush, green forest and mingling wildlife.

Some of the trees in the area are massive and utterly breathtaking. You've never seen anything like them!

#tbt to a few weeks ago when @siribright, Fynndaloo, and I saw this tree walking across a gap in the cliff. Trees in Washington sure are talented!!! #pnw #trees #magic

Take in a few hikes while you're there - you have a TON to choose from! With varied levels of difficulty, there's something for everyone.

But if rugged terrain isn't your thing, the beach combing is equally fascinating! In my opinion, the stormier the better, but these summer days are providing some beautiful beach walks!

We often get asked if the surf really moves those big logs on the beach around, and as shown here, the answer is yes, indeed. Recent rainy days have us reminiscing on Winter tides and storms, the best time to witness such power. #kalaloch #beach #onp #olympicnationalpark #washington #wanderwashington #pnw #pnwdiscovered #pnwonderland #pnwcollective

Wondering if (and hoping it's not a "when") I'll ever stop finding new places that grab my heart the way these places do. -- #neverstopexploring #getoutside #findyourhappy #pnw #upperleftusa #shishibeach

You'll love unwinding at Creekside Restaurant with a locally-sourced menu, plus micro brews and wine from the region.

This will hands down become one of your favorite adventures, and likely an annual tradition! It's time to fill up the tank and hit the road! Enjoy this One-Tank-Trip to Kalaloch Beach, and be sure to tag me in your pictures when you visit!

Happy Adventuring,
