Metallica Releases Behind-The-Scenes Grammy Rehearsal Footage With Lady Gaga

August 28, 2017

At this point, everyone is well aware of the mishap that happened at the 2017 Grammy Awards when Metallica shared the stage with Lady Gaga in their live rendition of "Moth Into Flame." Long story short: James Hetfield's microphone wasn't plugged in, muting his vocalist for the first half of the song, forcing him to share with Gaga before the technical issue was resolved mid-performance.

In the video, the group coordinates their onstage presence, vocals, and Lady Gaga's choreography for the song. "Leather shorts, stripper moves from the '90s," says Gaga. "Our fans will appreciate that part," adds Kirk.

Towards the end of the video, we see James Hetfield jokingly shout as he steps over what would be the stage’s pyro line. Kirk Hammett screams, "Not Again!" and Lars Ulrich adds, "Montreal!"
