Three years ago when In this Moment last played the Moore Theatre it was one day before Halloween 10.30.14. I thought back then how cool would it be to shoot this band with their eerie theatrics on a Halloween night!? Well I got my wish this last Tuesday night on Halloween 10.31.17, what a lineup of bands also! In this Moment, Of Mice & Men and hailing from Sweden, and the show openers the mighty Avatar
Avatar might be the greatest live band you've never seen of or heard yet! A vaudeville heavy, power, death, melodic, heavy metalcore rock band theatrical circus! The ringleader singer Johannes Eckerström is incredible live. Full of energy, commanding onstage and a voice that can do it all.
Their 7 song set seemed so short because I and the crowd wanted more! Hail the Apocalypse/Paint Me Red/New Land/Bloody Angel/The Eagle Has Landed/Let It Burn/Smells Like a Freakshow.
One good thing for Seattle is Avatar will be back 1.26.17 at Studio Seven {Buy Tickets} - I hope to make the show flying in late from NAMM that night. If Avatar video's were in the MTV era they'd be one of the biggest bands on the planet! Here's their latest for "A Statue of The King".
Next up was Of Mice & Men. Not too familiar with this band except I know they are considered a Metalcore (more nu metal now) band hailing from my favorite areas of Orange County, California and their singer/founder Austin Carlile left the band in December. So the band is now is a 4-piece and have bassist Aaron Pauley singing. He does a great job.
With Of Mice & Men (pretty much a jeans and tshirt band) in between the tour theatrics of In This Moment and Avatar the band had some simple and somewhat silly costume wears. Winner was guitarist Phil Manansala in his Jamacian banana suit.
Overall they were good, but for me to see them on this tour not. I was in the mood for a full night of theatrical bands and with Of Mice & Men playing in between Avatar and ITM I was somewhat bored after awhile. Check out their new track "Unbreakable" I did love this song live in their set.
Next up was the headliners In this Moment with their "Half God, Half Devil" tour. For the past 7+ years I've been shooting ITM live It's been amazing to see the live show transformation over the years!
Now signed with Atlantic Records, ITM have some backing power to send this act to the next level. With a sell-out crowd at the Moore Theatre in Seattle ITM and Maria Brink delivered a setlist that pleased all fans of the band: Blood/River of Fire/Adrenalize/Roots/Burn/Lay Your Gun Down/Monster Jam/Black Wedding/In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins cover)/Sick Like Me/Oh Lord/Encore: Whore.
The show has definitely become more wicked, darker and sinister of a production. This ain't no Lady Gaga, Britney Spears or Katy Perry production. You can have that "for the masses" production BS! I'll take Maria Brink and In this Moment anyday! I mean lets face it, ITM have a 10th of production costs to those overblown arena shows yet ITM is more interesting and musically/visually diverse of a show. Maria Brink is the REAL deal! Our Metal of Oz wicked good/bad witch.
Released July 21, 2017, their new album "Ritual" debuted at #23 on the Billboard 200. A more straight forward raw sound that I really dig from previous efforts. Check out their new video for the single "Roots".
In This Moment are right on the edge of moving their act to the next level. In this metal genre they are definitly leaders of the pack in theatrical worthtiness of your concert money. Stay up-to-date with In this Moment and don't miss their show around your town! www.inthismomentofficial.com
