Local independent pro wrestling promotion DEFY is running their first show of 2018 tomorrow night (Friday February 2nd) at First Hill’s historic Washington Hall. This will be the companies 10th show – hence the name “DEFY X: Year One”, as well as the official 1-year anniversary of the popular upstart wrestling league. Reserved seats are 100% sold out, with a limited amount of GA standing room only tickets going fast. If you’re looking to see some wild in-ring action, I’d suggest you act quick by clicking here

DEFY is throwing one hell of a show to kick off the new year, as they have the Tacoma-born worldwide sensation and current DEFY Champion “The King Of Swerve” Shane Strickland facing an incredibly dynamic performer who can see every Thursday night wrestling for Impact on Pop TV, Matt Sydal. Formerly known as Evan Bourne in WWE, Sydal is well known for his aerial assault, but can throw hands with the best of ‘em when the time comes.

One of the most interesting matches of the night will be the “Defy To Survive 10X Elimination Challenge.” To be completely honest, I’m not exactly sure what to expect from this, as I’ve never seen anything like it. On the official DEFY website, defywrestling.com, the match is described as a “10 person blind draw 5 on 5 elimination match. Each team will battle until every person from the opposing team is eliminated. If more than one member of the winning team remains, they must fight for survival until one stands alone.” I’ll try to keep up. The 10 competitors are Clark Connors, Nick Radford, Kaine Jaiden, King Khash, Rosas, Artemis Spencer, Cody Chhun, The Catch, Sonico and Big Jack.

A match that certainly has a good chance of stealing the show is the high flying wonder himself ACH facing off against the tattooed So Cal monster Brody King. Fans who saw Brody go head-to-head with Shane Strickland at DEFY 9 know that he can punish his opponents with gnarly power moves, but isn’t the average big man – he moves fast and quick and performs crazy acrobatic lucha libre moves. But will he be quick enough for one of THE quickest in the world, ACH ? I’m stoked for this one!

Other matches on the card are Randy Myers vs. Joey Janella, Nicole Matthews vs. Hawlee Lane and Schaff vs. Dave Turner.
