Rockets

Hello Rock-A-Holics and let me be the first to welcome you to the future! That’s right, today is no ordinary Wednesday because as of yesterday, a rocket has taken off….and LANDED! I have no idea how Elon Musk did it but he was able to not only launch his new rocket “The Falcon Heavy” successfully, but he also sent a Tesla racing towards Mars at the same time. Definitely a flashy way to say “Look at all the cool stuff I can do” but regardless you’ve got to respect the man’s rockets. I think he should have thought a bit more about how he was going to get home though; I’m pretty sure his car isn’t making it back to Earth.

If you didn’t get to see these rockets take off and land, take a minute and check out the video below (Skip to 7:55).

I’ve seen this video a couple times now and I still can’t believe how perfectly those rockets landed back on Earth. It feels like something out of a movie. This is the first time I’ve really watch a rocket blast off and the hype is real. The energy in that room as the rocket shot away was ecstatic and even got me to jump out of my seat. Personally I never understood why people found rockets to be so amazing but after seeing this, I’m hooked. It may have had something to do with the fact that despite an incredible amount of preparation and hard work, the success rate was still only about 50%. Those aren’t great odds considering it cost about 90 million dollars per rocket but hey, no one ever said it would be cheap to send a Tesla to Mars. All jokes aside, this is a huge step in the right direction when it comes to reusing rockets and hopefully one day it will lead to something much bigger.

Did the Falcon Heavy rocket impress you?
