BJ'S BLOG 02/26/16 "Porn Addiction"

February 25, 2016

Famous tough-guy actor - and former pro football player -Terry Crews (from Idiocracy and Brooklyn Nine-Nine) has opened up about his addiction to pornography, which he says almost screwed up life and marriage.

In a video posted to Facebook, Crews said:

"My wife was literally like, 'I don't know you anymore. I'm out of here.' And that changed me."

Crews went into rehab and therapy, which he credits for helping him get over his incessant need to watch porn: "I had to realize when I was depressed. I had to realize when I was sad about something or when I was feeling lonely. Because those were the times I was more likely to use pornography."

Terry and his wife rekindled their romance, and got their groove back after a 90-day “sex fast”. When it was over, their relationship was stronger than ever.

There are people – psychologists included – who still argue that sex addiction isn’t a real problem. I’m not sure if being addicted to porn, or video games, or television is an addiction in the same way as alcohol or drugs; to me, it seems more like an obsession.

For example: I have a serious obsession for playing games, but I don’t feel like I’d experience a physical or psychological withdrawal if I had to stop doing it. I’m hardly an expert, so that’s just my opinion…but there are plenty of people who seem to agree with me on this point.

As always, your thoughts are welcome!
