Steve Migs Blog 01/11/16 "RIP David Bowie"

January 10, 2016
Man…sad news in the music world today… David Bowie passed away yesterday at the age of 69.  He was battling cancer for the last 18 months.  I was rather late to the Bowie party… but when I discovered his music, I did fall in love with it.  His song “Space Oddity” will forever be a favorite of mine!

The reason I got into his music is a dumb one, but in college we were close to Montreal Canada (I went to Plattsburgh State University in New York) so a lot of commercials would air on TV for places in Montreal… one being for a strip club.  Looking back on it, it’s pretty funny to think that a strip club advertised, but man they must have had a huge marketing budget because they had commercials running all the time for a place called “Club Super Sex” … I will never forget the music they used for the commercial… it was David Bowie’s “Fame”.  That was what got me into his music… stupid, yes… but I feel like David Bowie would have gotten a kick out of knowing that was how I got hooked on his tunes.

Oh… you better believe I tried to find that Club Super Sex commercial online, but oddly enough… when you do a search for Club Super Sex, the results are not what I was looking for!

What a crazy game yesterday for the Hawks.  Thankfully a missed field goal attempt at the end of the game secured a win for the Hawks, 10-9 against the Vikings.

I have to say… I do feel for the Vikings fans… I think most Hawks fans have some sympathy for them after how heartbreaking our season ended last year in the Super Bowl.  I came across this video… and I get how this guy feels… I remember being at the Super Bowl last year when you are riding high thinking the win is about to happen, only for it to come to a crushing end.

I give this guy credit for how calm he sounded.
