RR is dealing with something that most longtime Mariners fans have known for years. It's actually a huge misconception that we all wanted Griffey back. He's always been a pretentious whiney spoiled shit. They were talking about bringing him back in the last couple of years, and my dad who is in his late 50s said "they better not, that'd be big f-in' mistake". No one wanted that douche back, f him!!! Everyone knows the story about how he had his own throne and king chair and all that bs in the lockerroom.

Back when Junior started with the Mariner’s, still as a rookie, my friend went to a house party where the host had to warn everyone that Griffey was there but didn’t want to be talked to about baseball at all. She said he’s always been a cocky ass, even before he went into baseball.

Hey guys.

You know, it's stories like that, and people like that, who make all celebrities look like arseholes. It reaffirms my thoughts on actors like David Tennant, and people like him, who are amazing with fans, and especially with children. They have a sense of what their actions can do, so instead of feeling pressured by it, they have fun with it. I wonder what's so hard about seeing things this way for so many famous people, athletes and otherwise.

Sorry, RR, about that bullshyte experience you just had with Griffey. It would've been great if you'd have called him out for his bogus attitude - even if it didn't get you anywhere in the long run.

You make me sick you Griffey fans. Everyone knows he left on bad terms and these Seattle fans treat him like a god including you guys now that he's back. What did he do in Cincinatti? Give me Arod anyday and like you said you can separate the player from the way he acts outside the game. The thing is Alex is polite and speaks well unlike Jr. so get over that has been half a player and embrace the best player in the game or get therapy for those dillusions. Forget the madonna and roid crap if you really do watch players for the game only or boo that jr. Along with alex to be consistant for both being a certain way off the field.

Yeah I have heard stories from a few friends that have requested autographs and he basically was like nope. I think he owes it to the fans to be a little more respectful.

This Griffey story is just killing me!!! He is my childhood hero as well. I once seen Ken throw out someone at home plate, from the center field wall, one bounce, into the catchers mit. He was my biggest hero. Just because you are a baseball icon. It doesn't give you the right to make someone feel small. He needs to take a seat on his own long black Louiville slugger!!

I'm not saying you're in the wrong here, but I'm going to present a counter-point to your issue with KGjr.

You said that you view these players differently after meeting them & maybe they have a grudge against talk-radio.

Well how about this, you have someone on in last year's opening day show (John Olerud), support his charity for his disabled child, then go on later in the year (frequently) to not only make jokes about "retards" but not a month ago BJ goes on a rant how he would be upset if he's in a theater / concert and a disabled person / retard is making inappropriate noises.

How disengenuous does this make you guys as talk-radio personalities look? On one hand you're reaching out to John Olerud for your off-site broadcast & supporting him, while on the other hand your delivering what must seem like vicious insults towards a class of people that his family is a part of.

This doesn't mean that jr. is a great person, but it's a two way street. You guys show a willingness to treat someone like Olerud this way, well sometimes you reap what you sow & get treated bad too.

RR, i 100% see where you are coming from. That would be incredibly disappointing to me as well. It happened to me with Gary Payton, though i was expecting Gary to be a prick. I think, and i am not trying to bash you, you may have a tendency to approach people in the wrong way. Its just your style to be fun and goofy and friendly, nothing wrong with that, it just may not sit well with EVERYONE. obviously i have no idea of the situation, but is it possible with a different approach, things might have been different. I mean, your in the locker room, no fan, you are a pro at that point. Anyway, i am a huge Jr fan from back in the day, probably just like you, so this is shitty to hear.

Hey guys. As a life long lover of the game I have continually been disappointed by Griffey's attitude towards the game and the fans. He's been repeatedly disrespectful to the legacy that this game carries in our country. I remember watching him during warm ups during his last season in Seattle. He was walking by me and my father (I couldn't have been more than thirteen) he said... "I ain't fucking running with those mother fuckers. I don't need to work out." I would assume he was talking about exercising with the rest of the team.

I will say that one of the greatest men in the baseball world and in my mind is Cal Rip ken Jr. I met him when I was ten or so. I got his autograph before a game against the Orioles. He took quite a few minutes to speak with me and my siblings when people were crowding all around us to get his attention. I remember having a quick exchange about how much I love the game, I remember him saying that he was happy a young lady like myself could find so much to love about the thing he lived to do. My siblings and father met him again a few years ago at a book signing. I couldn't go because I had to work, but he still remembered that day. He remembered meeting three plain white kids TEN YEARS afterwards. He signed books and took a half hour to talk to my family that day. He spoke to my dad about sending kids off to college and the everyday issues he has as a father of growing children. Whan an amazing man. I remember being at the last game he played at Safeco. He's just amazing, and I'll always appreciate his grace more than his amazing playing ability.

Just a quick story about Ken Griffey Jr. though I love what he has done for the city and baseball in this area.. he has been stuck up.. I went with my family to a game in the 90s. My cousin who at the time was like 4 or 5 asked Griffey to sign his glove.. Griffey said No because my cousin didnt have the money to buy an autograph. Caused my cousin to cry.

So yes though he is a good ballplayer he can be a jerk.

a long time ago and I asked him for an autograph and he said for $100 he
would give me one. I also had a friend who asked and all he did was laugh
and walk away. I will never be a Griffey fan agian unless he apologizes
for being an ass back in the day.

When I was a kid I played little league ball. My dad took my whole team up to the kingdom to watch the mariners play. We got there early to try to get autographs. We were waiting where the players come out of the tunnel. Griffey came out, I hollered over and asked for an autograph. He turned around made eye contact and said "NO". F him! I wanted to play pro ball when I was little, but decided after that, I would never play with people like that. That was the last year I played baseball and have never watched a pro game again!
