Day 763 (06/16/09) I Love NY!

Day 763 (06/16/09) I Love NY!

Today we talked about our week away...BJ went to Hawaii, and had a blast with the family & also went to a Magic Tournament while there.  BJ talked about how he once again had issues with a gadget of his.  BJ is known for losing his Bose headphones whenever he goes on a trip, and this time it wasn't his Bose...this time he slammed the door on his Garmin navigation system.

We then talked about my trip to NY, BJ was impressed by all of the stuff we did while in NY...he went as far to say that he wants to go on vacation with me the next time I go haha!  To recap the trip...we got off a plane at 6 am on Tuesday...later on that day we went into Times Square for a Letterman taping...that was sweet...and what a day to go, as we were a part of "history" as this was the episode when Letterman pissed off Sarah Palin with his jokes about her daughter might get impregnated by A-Rod, and also called Sarah a "slutty flight attendant."  The Letterman experience is rather interesting...his employees brain wash ya for about 45 minutes before the taping to make sure you laugh, stressing that it is important that we laugh as Dave feeds off of it.  Hell, even on the tickets urge you to laugh...usually at this point I would have the picture posted below, but something isn't working right, so here is a link to the twit Pic I took:

When we finally get to our seats...we wind up sitting in the balcony in the worst possible seats in the whole theater...right behind the sound guy.  the seats were so bad that we couldn't see Dave during the mono-logue, but I wasn't complaining as I am such a fan of Letterman & to be in his presence was so cool.  The only thing that really sucked was the annoying lady we had sitting next to us.  This lady was wouldn't shut up about how she couldn't see...and started leaning over us...like as if we could see better than her...but to make matters worse is that she brought 2 dogs with her...2 little dogs, and they were wearing diapers....I am not kidding!  To make matters worse, at one point she changed the diaper of one of the dogs!!!!!  One of the dogs kept walking up and down the stairs by our aisle & you can hear the rattling of her collar during the whole taping.  Turns out the dogs were wearing vests that said "Special Needs" --  Based on all that went down, I wasn't sure if the owner or the dogs were the ones that had special needs.  despite all of this...Letterman rules.  I thought this was interesting...look what they hand out while you are waiting...it's a form to see if you can be a featured guest on his show (stupid human tricks, etc):

While in NY we also went to the People's Court...unlike Letterman, The Peoples Court is a lot less difficult to get tickets too...I think if you show up wearing at least pants, you will be able to attend.  The People Court audience has some of the most interesting characters...I think they should do a documentary on some of the people that go to the People's Court...some go every day, no joke.

We also got to see the Hold Steady perform in Williamsburg...one of the best concerts I have ever seen...if these guys come to town, do yourself a favor & go see them!!!!!!

We also got to go to a Broadway musical...yes, a musical...but we came across one that actually seemed less gay than most musicals...called "Rock Of Ages."  It's a musical based in the late 80's in Hollywood during the hair metal days, and the music was songs from those days...Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Journey, etc....it was awesome actually, and I HATE musicals.

Huge thanks to Corey Taylor of Slipknot for calling in this morning.  Slipknot is headlining Pain In The Grass...get all the details on Pain In The Grass HERE!  What a cool guy!!!!!

Finally...go see The Hangover...Double R, Mono-Nick, and I all saw it...it's one of the funniest movies ever!  It's a crude film, but done in a brilliant way!

Today's Video Blog features "Radio's Best friend" Art Vuolo.  Art came in to shoot video of us doing the show, and caught a glimpse of Double R...as we once again locked Dub in the windows.
