Day 813 (09/03/09) Alice In Chains!

Day 813 (09/03/09) Alice In Chains!

The morning started off with us pissed off over a review that we read about the Alice In Chains show by Hannah Levin.  Click HERE to read this article.  I am so annoyed by this review on so many levels…I love local music critics in this town…the majority of them suck, and she is not an exception to that rule.  The whole article smells of a woman that is trying to show how hip & cool she is to her hipster friends…what a condescending pile of an article.  She tries to come off as a Alice In Chains  fan, yet she calls their biggest hit “The Rooster” in the article…uh…news flash dummy, it’s “Rooster.”  The  article is basically about how she doesn’t like that Alice In Chains is a band without Layne Staley.  I just don’t get this mentality…who are we to tell a band what they should & shouldn’t do…it’s been several years since Layne has passed, I don’t blame these guys for getting back together…they are a family, and they love playing music…I am so glad they are creating music again, and their choice of William Duvall as their lead singer was a great choice.  This Hannah chick had the nerve to write this in the article:

"But as soon as they launched in to "Down in a Hole", with new vocalist William DuVall taking on Staley's vocal parts, I simultaneously felt bored and a little sick to my stomach."

Bored?  Sick to her stomach?  To me & everyone else in the audience (including friends & family of the band)…that song was one of the highlights…I had goose bumps, and I know that I wasn’t alone.  Then she mentions how she decided to not go to the listening party for the new CD…because she didn’t have “the heart” to go…really?  You didn’t have the heart?  Or did you want to go out with your hipster friends & go see some indie rock band that stares at their shoes for their whole set?  I can’t believe that she is a music columnist, and she had a golden opportunity to listen to the new Alice In Chains CD & review it for her readers….especially since she writes for a town that LOVES Alice In Chains!  I wonder if she plans on reviewing this past Monday nights AC/DC show & saying it made her sick to her stomach because they replaced Bon Scott with Brian Johnson? Stupid.

For those that missed the show…our bud, photographer Mike Savoia, made a cool video slide show of the pix he took at the show:

Huge thanks to Rodney King for joining us this morning.  Yes,  that Rodney King…I loved him on VH1’s Sober House & glad to hear that he is still sober…15 months now.  Rodney is a historic figure for our generation…not by choice, but he is the guy that was beaten by LAPD officers back in 1991 that was caught on tape…those officers were acquitted, and this led to  LA Riots of 1992.  That being said…how ironic is this…the reason why Rodney was on is because he is doing a celebrity boxing match against a former police officer.  The fight happens next Friday (9/11)…check it out online at www.gofightlive.tv

So the Rev got pissed off on Bj towards the end of the show...yesterday, the Rev & the prodigy (BJ's son) went with Double R for a makeover...they got new clothes & they got their haid "did."  The Rev also got his goatee trimmed, and BJ pointed out that The Rev looked like Burl Ives/The Snowman.  This pissed off the Rev...check it out...do you notice a similarity?

Today’s Video Blog is all about Double R taking The Rev & The Prodigy (BJ’s son) out yesterday for a makeover for their big date this weekend!
