Day 817 (09/10/09) Hawks, Beatles, and Scooby Doo!
Man, I’m losing my mind…last night while driving him from my ladies house, I got on I-5 south as opposed to North…I drove for about 15 minutes before I realized that I was going the wrong way…when I saw signs for Fort Lewis. And today, during news…I was making my transition into the weather report, and instead of saying “today’s forecast…” I said “Our Next guest…” -- I have no idea why I was about to introduce a guest that wasn’t there. I know when I get old I am going to not even know my own name…I’ll probably end up in Texas, wearing nothing but boxers at age 80…not knowing how I got there…or where my pants went.
Speaking of guests…huge thanks to Mark Tye Turner for coming in…Mark was a writer/producer for shows like Blind Date, and Talk Soup…but is originally from here & is a huge Hawks fan…he just wrote a book called “Notes From A 12th Man – A Truly Biased History Of the Seahawks” The book is awesome, a fun read for any Hawks fan. I love this observation:
For once I would like a broadcaster to omit the following during a game telecast from the Jet City:
1. The words coffee & Seattle in the same sentence
2. Shots of the Pike Place Market
3. And mispronouncing a Washington city like Puyallup, Yakima, or Federal Way!
This morning we sampled some of the new re-mastered Beatles collection …I’ll be honest…usually I hate re-masters…I see it as a way for bands to cash in on their older albums by tweaking things that usually you can’t even notice….but we listened to some of the original Beatles songs, and then the re-mastered versions, and although the tweaks aren’t huge…they are noticeable, and enhance the sound of the music. The drums cut through better, the vocals sound warmer, and with a song like Eleanor Rigby, the strings sound amazing. If you love the Beatles, I think you will dig the new versions!!!!
Today we also had Haley Kiyoko on the show…who is Haley? She is popular with the teens, in a girl group called the Stunners, and is starring as Velma in the new Scooby Doo film, “Scooby Doo-The Mystery Begins!” check it out Sunday night at 7PM on the Cartoon Network (Comcast 42 or 680 in HD).
